God as a father? - 7/7/2004

I was listening to a sermon almost 2 months ago, and I was hit hard by something that was said. The speaker said that we should all consider God to be our heavenly father, and for those of us who couldn't think of Him as such due to our relationships with our earthly fathers, we should embrace that concept even more readily. I have had much trouble involving my earthly father, and for the ...

Which contact method works best here? - 7/1/2004

Here at BigChurch, we have these different ways to contact someone. You can send email, you can page someone on IMC, you can wink at them or you can ask them to join your Friend Network. Some seem to be dead end methods. I don't know how you respond to a wink, other than winking back, which I don't feel comfortable doing because I want to start out as friends first. And as for the Friend ...

Christian Youth Groups? - 6/30/2004

I am from the Czech Republic and am involved in our youth group organization. We have had some troubles having new people coming to our meetings or even church members coming to service. I came to visit my friends in the US and hoped I will get inspired and pleased by young people in the church here. But anywhere I came I saw just elder people in the church. My roots are in a traditional ...

God told me. - 6/26/2004

I feel that people say too often that God told them to do something. I've seen peole say this and then the thing (marriage, ministry, job, etc)doesn't work out. What kind of testimony is that? I think Christians need to cut down (all the way down!) on their use of this statement. How do others feel about this issue?

Does anyone practice true Christianity anymore? - 6/25/2004

I just want to know if there are any true worshippers left. I see people and hear people talk about how they are living for the Lord, but yet and still they do not live by the word. Say for instance, there are some who say they smoke, drink, gamble and on some occasions live the "commn-law" marriage, swearing; and the so-called "born-again" homosexuals who still engage in homosexual acts ...

Should "All My " bond us?.... - 6/24/2004

I am and only , my Mom and Dad's only ... While growing up, my Dad was self employed; therefore, he kept me, got me ready for school, checked homework, taught me about the "runnings" of business, and so on and so forth, which developed a great relationship between he and I... By my Mom being career oriented, more of a "socialite", going to her meetings and clubs, and etc... she and I didn't ...

When someone doesn't reply what should yo do? - 6/18/2004

When you've exchanged messages with someone a few times and then at some point you write to them and they don't respond, what should you do? Should yo consider that encounter over? Or should you bug them for a response (which is kinda what I did with several guys, I hate to admit)?

Should physical appearance be important to Christians? - 6/16/2004

I'm very conflicted about Christians (myself included) wanting someone who fits this world's standards of beauty. Are we all just really shallow and spiritually immature? I have to say yes! If a wonderful, kind, gentle, godly person comes in what we consider an unattractive package, we reject him or her outright! Can anyone comment on this issue? Thanks!

HAS HOLY GHOST LEFT HIM!!! - 6/16/2004

i'm not sure if the HOLY SPIRIT has left my pastor, it seems as if what he does could not be easily associated with what God planned for the pastors or the people he calls to lead his people(the congregation). i want to know if i'm wrong in evalueting his prachings and always find them weak and wanting because several times i grasp what he is trying to say, always it sounds like a moral ...

How should online relationships be ended? - 6/14/2004

I've corresponded very briefly with three guys at another online dating service. They all stopped writing very abruptly with no goodbye. I think it's very unchristian. Just because you're online doesn't mean you're exempt from showing the kindness the bible commands us to show one another. How have online relationships ended for others in here? I appreciate any answers. Thanks!

As a woman alone, I hesitate to post a picture of myself for a stranger I know nothing about to see and would like to get some feedback from those of you who have about the results you are getting and if you are satisfied or pleased with those results.

Love by Walt Disney - 6/7/2004

What is the deal with this "true love" business? I mean realy can we move beyond Walt Disney? Love is a comitment. True Love is a made up Hollywod ideal. It is also an excuse for too many divorces. "He just wasn't the right one for me." Don't get me wrong I believe in romance. I just believe it has more to do with passion and cooperation then "true love."

From friend to foe - 5/26/2004

Just wondered, why does people sometimes turn from supportive friends to the total opposite. I've had a good male friend for more than a year. He knew I wanted nothing but friendship and was Ok with that - even if he himself would hope for more. Recently I had to point out again I wanted nothing but friendship, which he has known all the time. Not new to him at all. He totally freaked ...

Why showing the most popular?? - 5/19/2004

I just wonder what's the point in showing this week's most popular men and women, i.e the most viewed? The world is so centered around most popular, most beautiful, most attractive, most outgoing, richest, best, blablabla..whatever, whatever. Would be refreshing to not have that pressure here on a Christian site. Just a thought.

SOCIAL DRINKING ! ? What a paradox , isn´t it? - 4/23/2004

Someone explain to me the paradox of Social Drinking. Where does the term "Social-Drinker" come from? I just can´t find it in the bible. Aren´t you fooling yourself, making excuses, if you call drinking social? What is social about watching people loose their selfcontrol, getting agressive and uncoordinated, talking more and more nonsense as the alcohol level in their blood rises, ...

Is honesty about a past legal problem something that should not be mentioned in a introduction? - 3/18/2004

My thought is the past is the past. We all know Christ forgives us. Unfortunately I think that being honest about mistakes scares some away from something that can be wonderful. How many of us are wounded healers or even know what that means? Maybe one should put their best foot forward and only bring up the past if asked?? What does everyone think out there? Being open from the start on my ...

Gotta be careful about some peoples 'gifts', especially when they respond with unfounded name calling, specific personal attacks, and the like, to generic questions or statements. Dr Spock of 'The feel good generation' would be proud of some responses [Before he admitted he was wrong!], hiding behing behind 'stereotyped craftiness', revealing their true message & inner self!
