Isn't there a James Bond movie entitled, The World is Not Enough? I may have that wrong but I feel like my words are not enough.

I just wanted to thank y'all for all your support, prayers and constant encouragement. You just have no clue how much it means to me to see your friendly uplifting replies when I post.

In a world where people hardly make eye contact anymore, it's so nice to see us all sharing our good times as well as our struggles with one another.

I have been so blessed by getting to know so many different people from different places here. I exchange phone calls and emails with some of you and some of you just post a sweet smiley on my blog but I am extremely blessed by each of you.

And I just wanted to thank you and tell you how much the light of Jesus shines through you for me to see. In fact, sometimes I think I should be wearing my shades when I come here! LOL

My prayers are with each of you this fine Tuesday morning! Yes, it's an awesome day. There is even a small breeze outside to cut through some of the humidity.

I'm off for another hectic day but it's going to be a good day. I like Tuesdays!

God bless y'all!

Monday isn't going to take me hostage!

Last night I watched the most electrifying swimming relay race I have ever seen.

The US wasn't figured to win. The French had spoken publically how they were going to blast the US team right out of the water. It was because of this very race that Australian swimming hottie Iam Thorpe said it was impossible for Michael Phelps to win 8 medals at this Olympics.

But in the last few meters, the Americans passed Germany to win it. To give you an idea how fast this race was, even the fifth place team finished under the world record!!

Today with those images fresh in my mind along with several verses about winning the race, today is a new day, a fresh start from God.

While I cannot control the environment or whether other employees do their jobs properly and sign off the timecards on time, or if drivers on the freeway bully me down the road, I can control my thoughts on whether today will be a good day or a bad day before I even get to work.

I am taking my thoughts captive and decided to be grateful that God has given me yet another day to do my darnest for Him in all I do.

The only thing being taken hostage today in my life is my negative thoughts.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone! God is good all the time even on Mondays and this is indeed a new day that our Lord has made. And I have decided it's going to be a good one!

How about you?

Why is it that I so dread going to work on Monday mornings but yet here it is 4:31am Sunday and I am contemplating going into the office so early so I can get a jump on tomorrow and catch up from last week?

Perhaps it is because I am in control of when I go into the office on the weekends (if I go at all) whereas on Mondays, I MUST be there.

My Gold Medal Is On Sack of Flour!

I love the Olympics. Sports that I would never normally watch, sports that are never normally televised, I watch with intensity during the Olympics.

I love the whole thing about the world coming together in the spirit of competition. I often root for the underdogs as well as my own countrymen.

For instance, there is always someone who has been training for an event in their own country where they don't even have the facilities to compete properly...

For instance there is always someone in swimming who has never been in an Olympic sized pool before. I just have to cheer them on. It takes a lot of courage to compete under a situation like that.

I also root for people I feel like I know. For instance, I will probably considered quite a traitor to my own country but I will be rooting for China as well as the US in Basketball.

This is because Yao Ming is competing for China. Yao may be Chinese but he's one of ours, as the star player of the Houston Rockets. How could I not root for him to do well, especially knowing how crappy his country will treat him if he doesn't do well.

I am also rooting for the US's own Dara Torres tonight. Not because she is from the US but because she is a 41 years old mom and still competing against girls half her age. And not just competing, she has a good chance to medal!! You go girl!!

I have been a fan of the Olympics since I was a . Oh how I wanted to be the next Olga Korbet when I was a young girl! I always imagined myself standing on that podium as my national anthem played.

Tonight Michael Phelps won the 400 m individual medley in world record time. It was no surprise. The guy is part dolphin!

During the medal ceremony, he stood smiling with his hand over his heart. He left out a bit of a laugh when the national anthem was cut short. In fact, the national anthem had been edited weirdly and was a mere version of the true song.

I have always fantasized how I would react if that was me up there on that platform. For one thing, my hand would definitely be on my heart and even though I have a really crappy singing voice, I would be singing every word of the anthem.

In fact, if I had been Michael tonight, I would have just kept on singing the last two lines even after the music cut off. And I'd probably cry through it all as well.

Heck, sometimes when I watch the medal ceremonies I stand up and cry with the athletes as our national anthem plays.

Yep, I am a whimp but I also cry when watching some commercials as well.

How about you?

Whacked Out Yankee Pig Lickers!

I just read a story about how one of the new fair foods at the Minnesota State Fair will be dark chocolate covered bacon sprinkled with sea salt called Pig Lickers...

Now I like bacon and I like chocolate but I don't think combining the two will result in something better than a Reece's Peanut Butter Cup.

In fact, I don't even want to try it!! I'd have to be pregnant to even consider something that crazy and I'd have to be even crazier to be pregnant at my age!!

And people think the batter fried twinkies and such they serve down here at the fairs are weird.....

But I want the big screen too!

This has been a tough week and yesterday was even worse than Monday and Tuesday.

I won't go into details but I am struggling to find the positive in all of this and I am struggling to keep focused on God.

I know He sees a much bigger picture than I do but I really wish I had that big screen too!

I keep trying to repeat His word in my brain but I keep replaying what has happened over and over again.

I have been up all night. The only positive I can find from this is that all my clothes have been laundered during the night.

I know the only way I am going to get through this day is by God's strength because I have none left. I'm tired and I ache. Every part of me aches but mostly my heart.

I am tired of the constant injustice in this world. I am tired of seeing good people get the shaft and the wicked constantly rewarded.

But deep down I know that those are all worldly blessings and in a flash they will be gone.

There sure are a lot of people in this world that better have some abestos underwear!

And in the meantime, all I can truly do is pray and pray that my relationship with Him is rock solid.

Today is one of THOSE days that I know it will be only by the grace of God that I make it through.

I am struggling big time not to lose hope... I guess that could be a good sign. As long as I am struggling then I haven't given up completely yet.

His word says He will not forsake us. I'm banking on that truth today. And I pray my thoughts keep that in the forefront of my brain today.

I sure hope y'all are having a better week than I am! God is good even when the jerks of this world are not!

Thank you to everyone who prayed when Tropical Storm Edouard was threatening us here in Texas.

God is good and we came through just fine. In fact, it was a weird storm. Despite taking a direct hit, there wasn't much punch to that hit and it was the people to the south of me who ended up getting more of a fight from this storm.

We had a lot of rain but never lost power and the water drained off really well.

I believe that God heard your prayers and answered them! He protected us from the biggest part of the storm and He is the one who got us through it all.

Thank you once again for your prayers and Praise God!! I am truly blessed to have so many friends willing to hit their knees for me and my . Thank you very much! I appreciate it greatly!!

The Calm Before the Storm isn't so calm

Right now, it's so still outside. The storm track for Edouard has changed a bit and now it looks like I am going to get a direct hit this morning.

I think my stomach is churning a lot more than the storm. Nervous anticipation perhaps.

We were told we didn't have to report to work until 10am this morning. Of course that decision was made when the prediction was for this thing to make landfall during drive time.

What a difference 12 hours makes! Now it's going to be a little later before it hits and there is no way I am driving into Houston during this thing.

I was looking for a job when I found this one and I don't believe that the company will fire everyone who isn't willing to drive through the winds and rain today!

All the corporate big wigs flew out of town yesterday.

I still need to pull in my two fugly plastic chairs from the back deck. Wooo hooo I still don't have to buy a hose. God's provision is pretty cool. He is going to dump enough rain that I can make it through another week without watering my lawn, thus buying a hose and a sprinkler.

I better get off line in case work calls to officially close the office today. I am still blessed with dial up! LOL

Sometimes you take what you get and be grateful for it. At least I don't have to pedal to keep it going! LOL

God bless y'all. Keep praying as I am and know that only the good die young. (I am neither young or good so I am not going anywhere fast! LOL ) I'll be back online after the storm passes.

Time to begin "hunker down" mode! Or at least pull in the plastic chairs and make a mocha mode! LOL

I wasn't planning a date with Edouard!

This is going to be one of those weeks where I truly must stay focused on the positive over the negative because I have one helluva week in front of me.

In fact, there is so much going on in my life this week that I probably spend at least a little bit of it in tears just from the outlet of stress alone.

Mondays are always hard because of the shear volume of work I must do. I must be precise and totally ontop of things. People's paychecks have to be done right!

Before I even get to that, I must first make a court appearance in the county seat to my north for a legal matter I am trying to clear up.

After that stressful situation is over (and over for good I pray) then I get to drive south to Houston and start my work day.

I may have to work late into the evening but that isn't too much of a big deal. I am used to hard work and working late.

However, there is one small detail... We have a moderate tropical storm expected to hit us tomorrow morning. It has been a fast forming storm by the name of Edouard. It could strengthen; it could do a lot of damage at current strength; it could do a lot of things.

Now I live pretty far to the northside of Houston out in the northern suburbs. The chances of any storm surge reaching my home are quite low. But these things do shoot off tornadoes and tornadoes seem to like trees and mobile homes.

I have 22 assorted trees including many tall pines in my backyard with my double wide mobile home. (Oops, sorry, it's supposed to say "manufactured housing." ) All I need is a large appliance like an old washing machine in my front yard!

Can you hear the banjo's playing? By next week, I could be on Springer! Well maybe not, my personal life isn't THAT much of a disaster and I barely know my neighbors!

This storm is also supposed hit about the time I go to work into the city in the morning. I plan to get as much of my Tuesday work done as possible so if the boss lets us off tomorrow, I can stay home.

I hate to drive in bad weather. Add in flying garbage lids and construction debris plus a little flooding especially at every overpass, creek and bayou! Power outages with street lights out and a million plus vehicles trying to get around, no, I don't want to drive anywhere tomorrow!!

I am just not real jazzed about this week but I am resolving to get through it. I pray God will give me the strength at precisely the right time. I am praying for God's protection and I must say that His Provision has been pretty darn good lately.

I have everything I need when it comes to food right now. Of course, I don't want to lose all the meat in my freezer due to a several day long power outage. But I have extra water, non perishables along with my perishables. We're set in that regard. Thank you Jesus!

Plus I have plenty of mocha makings!! How blessed am I?!

Yes, I will keep repeating and focusing on those things that are good and pure this week because I am going to need every small victory I can get!

God is good... all the time... even when the time may not be good and niether are we!

Happy Monday folks...

Why is it that every Monday morning is a bad hair day and yet here it is at 3:22am Sunday morning and my hair is rockin'!

Actually it's still drying a bit in the back. I got a case of the wide eyes tonight and decided to color my hair at around 1am.

I should be in bed but I spent most of the afternoon feeling yucky and it was so Africa hot outside today. We went to the grocery store this morning and it was already 100 degrees then. Add in the humidity to the heat index and our "feels like" temp was around 115!

My A/C is still blowing full out!

I have never quite gotten used to the fact that even when the sun goes down here doesn't mean the temperature will drop.

It's still hot out there... It's probably in the 80s now. That will be our low.

I am blessed to have A/C. I can't believe that a/c is optional here in many vehicles. There should be a law against that here in Texas!

I'm rambling again but at least my hair looks great! Goodnite y'all and God bless!
