Finding Hope in Fearful Times 4/6/2010
Finding Hope in Fearful Times
There are fearful times coming to this planet. Please look
with me at Luke 21:25. Jesus says that we are headed toward days when people "expire".
The word is aposucho 'breath pops out' or 'expires'
because of complete fear. We see that in earthquakes, fires,
and hurricanes, usually among the elderly with heart attacks.
But the ultimate panic attack is coming ...

Defeat Was In The Victory 4/5/2010
Defeat Was In The Victory
were it not for the blood in my heart the temperature of my emotional climate would freeze from the ice in my eyes,
from a frozen tundra the Sun appeared whilst melting my cynical faith in angels and made me believe in saving a lost soul
were it not for the razor edged teeth that held onto the throat of the dove a broken wing could have soared ...

Bible Verses (Corinthians, 13:1-13) 4/5/2010
I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even
of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than
a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired
preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all
secrets; I may have the faith needed to move mountains-but
if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give away everything
I have, and even give up my body to be ...

"I AM HE" 3/31/2010
“I Am He”
Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. (John
4:2 6)
We are met together on this Christmas morning to commemorate
an event. It is always vital that we should remind ourselves
of that, and that is why I, as one who is a thoroughgoing Protestant
and even a Puritan, believe in the observance of Christmas
Day. We are always so much in danger of forgetting ...

The Satisfaction of the Cross 3/31/2010
"When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish,
he will be satisfied." Isaiah 53:11a (NLT) Devotion: Approximately 600 years before Jesus was sentenced to
the cross, the prophet Isaiah foretold of the event. Invite
Isaiah's ancient words of prophecy to penetrate your
soul today, and prepare your heart for Easter:
"See, my servant will prosper; he will be highly exalted.

Understanding the Cross 3/30/2010
Understanding the Cross What really happened on the cross? Was the death of Jesus
a human tragedy whereby a good man was brutally and unfairly
slain? Was His death an example of faith, obedience, and
self-sacrifice? Was it a ransom paid to the Devil? A victory
over the Devil? A manifestation of moral influence? Was the cross an atonement? Did it involve expiation and
propitiation for sin? Was it ...

Ephesians 3:19 3/29/2010
Ephesians 3:19 The love of Christ which passeth knowledge. The love of Christ in its sweetness, its fulness, its greatness,
its faithfulness, passeth all human comprehension. Where
shall language be found which shall describe His matchless,
His unparalleled love towards the of men? It is
so vast and boundless that, as the swallow but skimmeth
the water, and diveth not into its depths, so all ...

Who Would You Have to Become 3/27/2010
Once upon a time, I spent nearly eight months wooing a beautiful
woman whom i loved very much, i still do and always will.
Somehow there was a very special connection. And we are
no longer together. I have discovered that it is possible
to love someone and not be with them. It took me a while to
be okay with that.
Separation, divorce or death do not end a relationship

Five Steps to Overcoming Commitment Phobia. 3/27/2010
While I define "commitment phobia" as "an
unrealistic fear of making a promise, a pledge or a vow to
be a faithful and loyal partner to another person, "
many singles may also fear that becoming a committed couple
means giving up, or losing, their independence.
It's not uncommon for singles to fear that committing
to be a life-long relationship challenges the safety and
comfort they ...

John 18:8 3/27/2010
John 18:8 Jesus said unto them, If ye seek Me, let these go their way.
Mark, my soul, the care which Jesus manifested even in His
hour of trial, towards the sheep of His hand! The ruling
passion is strong in death. He resigns Himself to the enemy,
but He interposes a word of power to set His disciples free.
As to Himself, like a sheep before her shearers He is dumb
and opened not His mouth, but ...

desire to spend time in God's Word. On the other hand,
the more your life is focused on the Word of God, the more
you will love to spend time in it. DL Moody ...

the courage of Great-heart, that I could wield his sword
and be as valiant as he! But, alas, I stumble at every straw,
and a shadow makes me afraid." List thee, Little-faith.

The Lord's Supper 3/25/2010
The Lord’s Supper
We come now to consider the Lord’s Supper. This, too, has
been the subject of great debate and controversy in the
Christian Church for a number of centuries, especially
since the Protestant Reformation, and great and mighty
works have been written on it. It would be easy to go into
all that but I have decided not to do so because most of the
controversy that has ...

May Those Who see Thee Fear and be Glad 3/24/2010
May those who fear You see me and be glad, because I wait for
Your word. May those who fear You turn to me, even those who know Your
testimonies. May my heart be blameless in Your statutes,
so that I will not be ashamed. (Psalm 119: 74, 79-80) God wants you to live a life that brings joy to others who
also love and serve Him! You know the kind of person I mean. Even when you see them
coming, you ...

Education and Relation: Truth and Love 3/24/2010
Education and Relation: Truth and Love
Think with me for a moment about education and relationships.
Some of you care deeply that education not ignore or marginalize
relationships of love. They are essential in real, lasting,
life-changing education. Amen. So I turn to the Bible. I find in place of the words, "education"
and "relationship, " the words, "truth"
and "love." So what does ...

Our Need for Salvation 3/23/2010
Our Need for Salvation
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a
prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and
ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to
worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour
cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet
at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not
what: we know what we ...

"The Bright Morning Star" 3/23/2010
In the last chapter of the book of Revelation, Jesus calls
himself the "bright Morning Star." In ancient
times, the morning star was thought of as a herald of the
new day, signaling the dawn of hope and joy. The brightest
object in the sky aside from the sun and moon, it is a fitting
type for Christ, who ushers in a new day for the entire world.
When you call on Jesus, the Bright Morning Star, ...

Matthew 26: 39 3/23/2010
Matthew 26:39 And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed.
There are several instructive features in our Saviour's
prayer in His hour of trial. It was lonely prayer. He withdrew
even from His three favoured disciples. Believer, be much
in solitary prayer, especially in times of trial. Family
prayer, social prayer, prayer in the Church, will not suffice,
these are very precious, ...

John 16:32 3/22/2010
John 16:32 Ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave
me alone. Few had fellowship with the sorrows of Gethsemane. The
majority of the disciples were not sufficiently advanced
in grace to be admitted to behold the mysteries of "the
agony." Occupied with the passover feast at their
own houses, they represent the many who live upon the letter,
but are mere babes as to the spirit ...

"Who do you say that I am?" 3/18/2010
"Who do you say that I am?" (Matthew 16:15) It all comes down to this eventually. In the Greek text the word you has an enormous stress. In
fact, the word you really goes at the first of the sentence.
It is as if Jesus is saying, "But you who have followed
me and have known me from the beginning, who do you say that
I am?" It is the greatest question in the entire universe
and it is one which ...

Israel in Joshua 9 and 10 3/18/2010
Israel's treaty with Gibeon. Just as all of us tend
to be rather gullible when we don't seek the Lord's
guidance, the Israelites are deceived by a heathen nation
(Josh. 9:3-5). Years later their past comes back to haunt
them (II Sam. 21:1-9). Joshua battles five kings and their
armies. He prays for a miracle and receives it (Josh. 10:12-13).
Verses for Today: The inhabitants of Gibeon . . . did ...

Deuteronomy 8:3 3/17/2010
He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna
which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He
might make you understand that man does not live by bread
alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of
the mouth of the Lord. (Deut. 8:3) The Bible is like food for your spiritual life! If you were to stop eating physical food, your body would
not last very long (some ...

2 Kings 7:3 Why sit we here until we die? Dear reader, this little book was mainly intended for the
edification of believers, but if you are yet unsaved, our
heart yearns over you: and we would fain say a word which
may be blessed to you. Open your Bible, and read the story
of the lepers, and mark their position, which was much the
same as yours. If you remain where you are you must perish;

back to Alaska then off to Georgia, Tennessee and West Virginia
again. Back to Alaska, a short trip to Africa, another year
in Arizona and then a year in Wisconsin. ...

Labourers in the Vineyard 3/11/2010
LABOURERS IN THE VINEYARD
Text: Matthew 20:1-16
• We must remind ourselves that the Bible makes it very
clear that there is no part of this Christian life which
is without its dangers. Nothing is so false to the teaching
of the New Testament as to give the impression that the moment
you believe and are converted, all your troubles are at
an end and you will never have ...

Moses last words to Israel 3/11/2010
Moses begins his last words to Israel. He reviews their
past, once more clearly emphasizing the blessings of obedience.
He pleads with them: Choose life (Deut. 30:19). Verses for Today: Keep therefore the words of this Covenant, and do them,
that ye may prosper in all that ye do. . . . That He may establish
thee to day for a people unto Himself, and that He may be unto
thee a God . . . as He hath ...
