i am into joshua and just read the part where he had to circumsize everyone from the exodus that had not been done before. that was sure a LOT of men in 40 years. joshua used only a flint knife. the place was called Gibeath Haaraloth, which meant hill of foreskins.

i have had this argument here before, but i will try it again anyway. the law NEVER says unmarried sex is sin. that got added later. the law of god says all kinds of sex to not be having and unmarried sex is NOT in there.

Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command. So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.
this story was in leviticus too, it seemed a little less harsh here.

These were the clans of Reuben; those numbered were 43,730
These were the clans of Simeon; those numbered were 22,200
These were the clans of Gad; those numbered were 40,500
These were the clans of Judah; those numbered were 76,500.
These were the clans of Issachar; those numbered were 64,300.
These were the clans of Zebulun; those numbered were 60,500.

I am not sure that I added correctly, but the total is in numbers. that is a LOT of people that were born or left from egypt

i am on to numbers lately, i have been kind of speed reading a bit, i felt that i didn't need to read all the repetative stuff about how to sacrifice animals (etc.). this is my sixth or seventh read through the entire bible, as well as studying much of it in classes at seminary. also, i was in a class at my old church (jesus people) where we studied much of leviticus and numbers in the original hebrew. so i feel that some of the OT doesn't need be read as closely. i am looking forward to judges though.

leviticus strange fire

i have recently finished exodus in my daily reading (1 chapter a day) and moved on to leviticus. it is a hard read, so i have taken to trying to skip through all the concise ceremonial stuff that no longer applies and read through several chapters at a crack. i am on lev: 10 today.
there are several things that are aaron and his sons duty up till then and i was trying to remember who his sons were and if they got dead by doing the wrong thing. then i finally thought that it was samuels sons who got dead for messing up, and not aarons. then in 10, aarons sons got dead. Nadab and Abihu were their names.
they god dead for using unauthorized fire in their sensors. that seemed a little harsh to me. they used them to light incense. i am sure i don't understand the whole thing correctly, but it still seemed harsh. thank god for jesus, or i wood be dead today.

6-8 weeks?

i have posted this before, and i have heard a lot of (wrong) guesses as to what it was, but i have just heard again, that it wouid be 6-8 weeks until something good comes through. it is something very good in my life that i have waited a long time for, and i have been told many times that it would be soon.
but i cannot give anymore info than this, there are people here that would hurt me.

new constuction?

there seems to be some new construction going on this site lately. instead of everything being in one line across the menu bar, they have made a community tab to include blogs, mags and group. that in itself is not amazing, but it is a little more logical and uncluttered and it shows someone has put some thought and time into this site; when it has been kind of stagnant a long time.
that at least is an encouraging sign? does somebody care again?
