My Christian view on our time.

Hazing

Humility is a good thing. Hazing has a long history of humiliating people all across society organizations all around the world from frats, sororities, military, to many group initiations. Why? Group membership bestows blessings unearned on initiates by virtue of the membership. Also, hazing can be a test of the mettle of the new member as in military organizations. The purpose can be good, but the extremes can kill and have done so.

We humans have often learned the hard way to find balance in our activities. Too much can cause more harm than good in some instances. Hazing has its purpose and place in my opinion. Just ask the initiates who have gone through it. Some will say it was a good thing, some will say it was too much for the purpose. I wish the organizations would see the news items on the results of extreme hazing and adjust their activity before the law has to step in and do for people what they fail to do for themselves.

The stairway the movie stars climb on oscar night to the auditorium. Even actors/actoresses have gone through hazing experiences.

Amtrak Train Is Smooth, Quiet, And Fun

It would be fun to travel around the USA on Amtrak. I tried it a few days ago, and it was a very smooth, clean ride between Burbank and San Diego, Calif. I bought the tickets online and then picked them up at the station.

Because the window viewing is so large, the train seems to be going slower than it actually is. Amtrak links many major metropolitan areas and stops at most small cities between them.
The train was very clean, quiet riding, and the people were courteous and just minded their own business. Of course a number of people were using their laptops. I just took pictures and watched the scenery passing.

SeaWorld In SanDiego Is For Everyone

Just landed in LA a two days ago from the tropics in the Pacific. San Diego is a Navy town. Many families with very small were at Sea World today. The killer whales 'Samu' show where trainers were pushing the extremes and one was killed not so long ago was toned down but still spectacular.

If a person has never seen snow, polar bears, penguins, sea lions, otters or walrus perform this is the place to see all. Some of these animals were so well trained they could respond perfectly on the slightest command of their trainer, with a hand full of fish as a reward.

Thanksgiving as usual allows people to meet together once again. Still people are on edge here in the USA. Yet there is a sense of support and an air if friendliness that is stronger than a year ago when I left for the tropics.

Culture Immersion Is Better Learning Than A Book or Lecture

Landing in LA last Wednesday.

The tropical island people of the Pacific taught me more by contrast of their own culture and mine as well than any classroom book or lecture ever could.

Asians network together so close there is hardly any daylight between them. This culture is as old as breathing, but we can learn so much from them. They live as many extended families. Respect is standard and so ingrained. Few asians ever feel alone. They love new people. Their anger is only for a day. They bless their family members all of which they are capable. It is close to all for one and one for all.

Being European myself, this was a blessed learning experience. Do not talk to a single asian, but to the whole family. In dealing with Asians we have to deal with the family or the group.

Tomorrow watching out for my daily bat kol and angel visitation, I will be looking for both. Ask me if you don't know about either one. I especially like to spot my angel visitor who likes to dress up in awful looking clothes and hide from me who he/she is. Its okay. I will know now.

My Bat Kol, Nov. 17, '11

A whisper, or small voice from God revealing His will or even a judgment is a bat kol. Ancient writings say this is like a spot light or beam that briefly passes us over each day. Many days I miss this opportunity to be a blessing to someone.

Yesterday, however I caught it. In the Inchon airport of Seoul Korea at the immigration counter a woman from Vietnam who spoke very limited English was desperate to fill our her declaration form. She was at the immigration counter just ahead of me and the officer denied her clearance because she had not filled out this form.

Seeing what happened I went back to the table and filled our my own form. Then she came to the table and looked helpless. At this point the bat kol of the day happened for me. I heard inside of me a prompting to help this Vietnamese lady. Forty years ago I would have shot her when I was in the Vietnam conflict. Today God was prompting me to help her. Through hand signals, and using her passport I fill out most of the form and had her sign her name. About 20 minutes later on the other side of the counter she walked by me in the hallway of the airport smiling from ear to ear at me.

It was on the plane later that I realized the enormity of what had happened. More healing too place in my soul life and my eyes teared up for a long few minutes. Thanks to God that I experienced my bat kol yesterday.

Angels Aware

This angel showed up again and once more I mostly missed the opportunity to give and receive a blessing. I was having lunch on a sidewalk cafe located on Beverly Hills street in the prestigious Hollywood section of Los Angeles, Calif. This scraggly angel unaware to most stopped by to bless me and upgrade my spiritual life. I mostly ignored him, but interacted some. As too often, it was later that I became aware of who he was. I have missed this angel three times this year that I can remember.
