My Christian view on our time.

"Come To Israel Where The Bible Comes Alive"

This is the slogan that is drawing many tourists to the Holy Land. In the year 2011 it was expected that 3.5 million would visit of which two-thirds would be Christian. Many say to at least once try to get there and experience it. On my next trip to the tropics, I hope to reverse course and travel east out of Texas and beginning in Spain stop from place to place on my way to Melbourne, Australia and then on to the Pacific Tropics where I love to roam around. If and when this trip materializes I would like to stop briefly in Jerusalem and see. Not many people talk about the Mount of Olives where Jesus ascended, the last place He set foot on earth. Once again the angles spoke. At His birth they announced His arrival and at His ascension they announced His return that would surely come.

Napa Valley Wine Train

This Napa Valley Wine Train travels up and down the Napa Valley through the many vineyards. It has three or four coach cars and invites people to ride along and enjoy a glass of wine as the train slowly meanders through the many vineyards. I was at one of these when the train went by giving me this photo. The engineer and I exchanged salutes.

Jesus used the wine at the last supper meal to make a sacrament of His blood shed for the sins of the whole world. He took what was common and made it very holy by His Word of intention. Also the unleavened bread He made into the sacrament of His Body given for us. He gave us His all, the greatest love that can be shown.

Will Atheist Win Over Nativity Scenes?

They have always been around, but this season atheists are back and stronger. From San Diego to Athens, Texas they are rocking the nativity world of Christmas displays of Jesus birth.

Someone once said that all evil has to do to win is wait for the good to do nothing. In San Diego the faithful are losing and the atheists are winning. The point is that the majority rules. In Athens, Texas many Christians are strongly opposing the atheists over the display of the nativity scene of Jesus birth.

The strength of the USA is Christian people. We founded this country and we sustain it, but only if enough Christians reach the point of bringing more light into the world than darkness. Not even the USA constitution can survive lukewarm Christians. Our victory is in resisting evil. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.

Not far from the Planet Hollywood hotel where we stayed, there was the Venetian hotel. I have never seen a shopping mall of such artistry inside a hotel complex as this one. It already dark outside, but inside with the artificial ceiling it was still daylight.

The many sights in southern California are fun to visit, but I liked the reminder of this training ground for Olympic atheletes. These people have to say no to the negatives and yes to the positives each day. Its the only way to get ready and progress.

One of the blessings of my life is some friends. This group is a small collection of some of them who made themselves available to be there, even flying in from SF. Others drove up from San Diego and Burbanks. How does a person ever find friends like this?

A few weeks ago I was married in LasVegas. Unlike the new trend I still feel most comfortable with marriage, at least after a long commitment. I married up this time.

Wine Anyone?

These Winery's in Napa Valley are unknown and unseen until you see them, and only then will you begin to know them. As so often, pictures just don't tell everything, and sometimes not even close. Personally, I like wine, but the challenge is to not like it too much. Usualy I get too happy, but with exercise in moderation I can keep from getting too high.

I visited the grounds of two Winery's in Napa Valley, a rolling beautiful land of many fall colors surrounded by mountains and saw an endless sea of cultivated grape vines on both sides of the road.

The Allure of San Francisco

Never would I have understood this metropolis of many cultures and people of beauty, brains, and brawn, unless I had gone there. I met one person who must have been barely 22 who was both a student and professor at Berkley and he was teaching advanced Calculus. I met hippies who still had the charm of Scott McKenzie's song "If you are going to SF...". I saw people in the Castro district, known for les and gay life styles, who were displaying their brawn.

San Francisco metro is the heart beat of the nation but mostly misunderstood, in my opinion. Culture revolution starts here in many areas of life. I have not seen the whole world, but having seen some of it, I would still propose that this area of intellect, poetry, and spirit revolution, is one of the major centers of culture progress.

If you ask where is Christianity in all of this, I would say the many formal Church's are here as represented by the beautiful Church buildings, but the endless search for the heart of Jesus is out on the streets, and in the open minded search of the people who still care.

The allure of San Francisco is the search for meaningful relationships that is still going on here. The breaking out of role play and establishment of the new paradigm of a living interpersonal communication relationship began here. This revolution has gone off track, and now another revolution is occurring. This time it started on the East Coast, but with the same spirit as here before. It has now shown up in Berkley and around the metro area, but its contribution is not yet known.
