My Christian view on our time.

We Have One Problem, But Many Symptoms

If we can identify our most basic problem and solve that, the many symptoms would go away. Depression, anxiety, inefficiency, addictions, super critical, judgmental, sexual aberration states are all symptoms in my opinion. The one problem we have is our living so much for me and mine.

I thank God for great pleasure, astonishing wealth, beautiful music, very savory food, stunningly beautiful sights, and more. I am happy for God that He has all this and more in abundance beyond knowing and belief. I am not ashamed to be very desirous of these things. This desire is not condemned. It is in fact our birthright. WE are born in His image and it is normal for us to want to experience His energy as manifested in these ways.

Desire for His beauty, glory, pleasure is normal. He made us to share in His bounty. What then is the problem? I believe that our fierce desire for His bounty unbalances us when we want to receive it but not share it, and worse not want others to have it either. To put it simply as possible, we want what is His for our self only. This is the epitome of self centered living.

Jesus whole life message is that in sharing with each other we are saved. Jesus came to restore God's bounty to us, but His surprising message is that in sharing with each other we get to keep some for our self and are restored.

The Three C's of Very Attractive Men

This is a fail safe approach for us guys to have most any woman we want, even if she is not right for us. Without these three, we are just planing to fail in most, if not all relationships. This is my disclaimer: it is my opinion, but it is based on my personal experience and others.

1. CASH. This is one of the hottest aphrodisiacs known to human kind for attraction especially for women. Rich girls just don't marry poor boys. This was the basis of the F.Scott Fitzgerald Movie, "The Great Gatsby". It is still true today. Men must have not only a job, but a good one. Its better to create your own business than work for someone, if you can.

2. CHARACTER. This means what it implies. A gentleman, kind, especially clean, honest, loyal are some words to describe it. A Christian woman wants a Christian man. Women who have compromised their need for a Christian man have always lived to regret it. To be in alignment with reality, we really need to have read the Bible, be a member of a Church, and pray regularly. We can lead spiritually, if and only if, we have gone there and done that.

3. COMMUNICATION. This is perhaps the hardest of the three. COMmunication is a personal expression of thoughts and feelings. A woman wants a guy's feelings perhaps even more than his ideas. When we talk about a man who is the strong, silent type, we mean not a guy who won't share his ideas or feelings, but a guy who will listen to a woman talk and talk. It is important to not, almost never, to contradict a woman. She is always right, more or less, but always right.

Personally, I have been working on all three most of my life. I started out way behind in these three and the results were perdictable, as promised. I have made progress, but still am working on it. Jesus would never have been Lord and Savior if He lacked any in these three areas. He has unlimited CASH, impecable CHARACTER, and astonishing COMMUNICATION skills.

I thought there was someone on here that was 70, but I don't know. At age 67 I am proud and maybe now the dean of Big Church, ha ha. Many here are in their 40's, and 50's, and a few in their 60's. Why do people drop out after 60's? Its the best of times for me now. Anyway, whatever, I am pleased as punch to be leading the pack.

This seagull reminds me of yours truly. I spotted him/her in Fisherman's Wharf, SF.

You Can See Yourself In Other People Here On BigChurch

This is all my personal experience, opinion, and some researched opinions of others. Years ago when I first set foot in the door here on BigChurch I soon found myself mired in countless arguments, judgments, and some insulting. If life is truly like being surrounded by mirrors that reflect back to us who and what we are like, then truly BigChurch was that for me.

Over the years I saw the big differences in people on here and also reflected back to me how argumentative, judgmental, and selfish I was. I was surprised actually to see this in myself as I did not imagine that I was this way at all. This is probably the supreme value of BigChurch. Also, of course, it is a chance to meet someone. I did that also. That too was quite revealing.

The people I fought with were just as argumentative, and judgmental, and self centered as myself. I am forever grateful for this time here that revealed, even painfully so, just how I came across to others. I would not dare stoop, or lower myself at this time to be like that again. In fact it has been a long time, except for the time that a major defense and correction here was needed to protect others from the insulting comments they were receiving, that I ever got into it with people. If people do not show respect on my blog, I ban them, and I waste no time doing so.

To all bloggers I would say, hang in there, make the most of this time, and try to see our self as others may reflect back to you how we are. Learn from this experience. Scripture advises us to not listen to communication that is evil, but only to that which is good. The reason is that we become like who and what we listen too. It is cause and effect again. Each effect is contained in the cause and each cause is contained in the effect. In the seed is the tree and in the tree the seed is contained. Its a law of human behavior and of life.

This is in no way to say that we are judges when we are judged, or argumentative when others argue with us, or are we critical when others criticize us. The point is that we are however like those we continue to listen too. The mirror of BigChurch reflects back to us our self as long as we stand in front of the mirror.

As painful an experience as it has been on BigChurch, I learned from it and used it to grow in grace and truth, as I see it. This may be why the Church is often called a hospital. It is full of people needing to get well, and it is in the church hospital that people problems are diagnosed, treated, and cured.

Are You A BigChurch Celebrity and Being Chased?

We may not think that we are celebrities, but according to the definition we might squeak into the description of one, even if barely so. If the paparazzi are after you, then you are a celebrity of some sorts. The definition goes something like this: a person who stands out, is noticed by many, and is influential.

What happens to celebrities? Their life of privacy is gone. They are chased, bothered, photographed, hounded, and sometimes worse. Since we post publicly on BigChurch and make comments that influence, and maybe even create jealousy, envy, we have become targets of other people. This is the nature of the world.

Jesus said that He would make celebrities of us all. We are a city on a hill for show and tell. He told us to not think it strange that we become targets because He will make us influential in this world. This is part of the price we have to pay. If the paparazzie hounded me, they will hound you also, He said in a word. Be glad because your reward spiritually is much. If we are not standing out, and influencing, then He said we are worthless, and need to be thrown out as we have lost our celebrity status.

A celebrity in action.

What Do You Think About On Your Birthday?

What does a person think about on their birthday? Today I think about when I was very young, and how now I am coming almost full circle. What happened in between was a long unhappy experience of learning how false are the values of the world and how true are His interpersonal values.

I think about how, though not easy perhaps, it is okay for people to take off their mask. The real you and me is a beautiful creation, much better than the misrepresentation we often present to the world. There are no ugly persons, only hidden and distorted versions of the real created personality. Evil makes progress in our life only as long as we listen to it. Once we stop listening, the light floods us and the darkness must flee as it is impossible for the two to exist together.

I think about health, wonder why I am healthy, and also am grateful. I regret the times I hurt people and smile at the times I was a blessing. The illusions of the world no longer hold their allure as much, and what I want most now is to be all in personality that the Lord created me to be.

Family is everything. I mean birth, demographic, national, christian, and even so the world family. I don't want less, but actually more. However, what I want more of is to get rid of the barriers that separate people. A long ago song goes something like this, "... the luckiest people in the world are the people who need people." It has been hard for me to believe this over the years, but not so much now.

The older I get the happier I am. Tomorrow it is 67 years for me. I can't wait until 70. Then I will really feel like a senior citizen.

These cable cars in San Francisco has always held a fascination for me. I like history for some reason. Maybe its that I feel a connection with the past, and less some with the future. Don't ask me to explain that. I am a mystery even to myself at times. Much of my life has been trying to understand.

I don't know about anyone else. At times, depending on the picture, art seems boring to me, and other times it seems inspirational. I have many oils on the walls of my house, but really the digital pictures of nature are the most inspirational to me. Art is a reminder for me of the good and bad experiences of life.

In this world maybe we don't have much time to relax and view art. These creations on canvas often, it seems to me, to express the feelings of individual artists and also the collective feelings of our society. I like art museums. This is one I recently visited.

Laws of Self Defense

A week ago in south west Florida a judge gave a 15 year old student immunity from a murder charge because he defended his life at a bus stop from a bully 16 year old student who was punching him according to eye witnesses. The law is the "stand your ground law" which was passed by the Florida legislature. This law is similar to the "Castle Law", which gives people to right to defend themselves inside their own homes. The right to life is constitutional, and the right to defend it outside the home is now law in many states.

The police are very good at investigating a case after it happens but obviously they can not be everywhere to defend people. Anytime we have to use deadly force to defend our life because we were afraid for our life, just know we may have to explain it later to a judge who will agree or disagree with us.

The right to defend our nation is the job of the military.
