My understanding is similar, both sheol and paradise are temporary holding places for souls untill the resurrections. 1st resurrection for the saved, the 2nd for the damned. The resurrection comes when the last souls come home losing their lives in the Tribulation. My interlinear Bible's word for word translation says this, "V18 wills the will of God, to suffer, than (for) doing evil. Because even Christ once concerning sins suffered, the just for the unjust, that us He might bring to God, being put to death truly V19 in (the) flesh, made alive but in the Spirit; in which also to the in prison V20 spirits going He proclaimed to disobeying ones then, when once waited the God longsuffering in (the) days of Noah, having been prepared an arc, in which a few, this is eight, souls" etc. It seems here that Jesus went and preached to the disobeying spirits in "prison". These spirits seem to be the wicked ones God destroyed in the flood. This possibly indicates that it was sheol and not hell (if everyone goes to sheol first). I'm not sure if there's a direct route to hell, I know the beast, antichrist and false prophet get a direct ticket there but for the rest I'm not sure. But then I guess the question is when Abaddon kept? It says in Rev 9:1 "The bottomless pit." But is that sheol, hades, or hell? Is sheol and hades one and the same or is sheol for humans and hades for demons or vice versa? Now there's a lake of fire to consider as well ...... Interesting. Judgement Day will be interesting.

Just another point of interest with no Scriptural backing on this one. I've heard it said once that those who do firewalking get their ability from demons. This power given is a direct insult to God because of God's promise to throw all unbelievers and demons into hell and it's the devil's way of saying it wont hurt. Interesting thought as I've seen a firewalking ceremony and a guy stick a skewer through his cheeks and tongue when overseas. Judgement Day will be interesting.

The interlinear Bible has the Hebrew or Greek above it and the English words & meaning below. This make the sentances disjointed a bit and translators try to make it more readable. Judgement Day will be interesting.

Hades was the name of the Greek god, and the place Hades is named after him. It's the Greek mythology place for the underworld or sheol. "The place of the dead". But from Greek mythology. Creed in the Danish version says Jesus went to the realm of the dead. Not to hell. Just as our version of the Bible. As you know one of the original versions of the Bible used for translation into our langusge(-s) is Greek. Written by people with an understanding from their Greek social background. Besides that, if you take the time to dig deep - really deep - you will find that many (most?) Religious cultures has somehow a telling of how they got separated from god (God). And some of them have a prophesy of how and what will happen that makes them find back. E.g the prophesy from a tribe in South America where the Truth would be revealed to them through the banana tree leaves. And one day it really happened... When we go to somewhere to tell the Gospel - no matter where - we are never the first to come. The Holy Spirit visited first. Always! The Spirit moves souls. We are just the messengers. God isn't limited by the work or preaching of man. Nor is He a toy that can - or will let anyone use Him as toy or tool - be used or limited for our purposes of getting attention; fame or power over people. But we often limit Him - or try to limit Him - by our homemade rules and regulations for controlling who is for us, and who is against us. The Message (Gospel) is plain and simple. So we need to learn to do what He asks us to do, and then step aside leaving the rest to Him. There is no compromise. Dealing with people who want attention and fame on behalf of the Gospel; closing one eye to what they really do for getting what we want is selling everything out. It's selling out all that we believe in. All we have learned and experienced. And more important: It's selling out souls. The souls that was damaged because we closed an eye and allowed someone to prey on the Salvation of others. By letting them add rules and regulations that was NEVER a part of Salvation in Jesus Christ. Only something for man to look at and determine whether they where followers of a religious belief system. Only emptiness. My main reason for being here: To get the wolves of the throat of His children. It didn't start that way. It just turned out to be the real reason. Now I know.
