Update on Urgent Prayer Request

Thank you everyone for praying for Roberta's Joshua. I really do appreciate it. Many of you have asked for updates and remember Roberta from her days here at Big Church. She wrote me yesterday and said I could share this with all of you:

Good Morning,

I have news regarding Josh and I also wanted to say thank you to each of you for your prayers. Your prayers, as are each of you a real blessing to us.

Things are coming along with Josh. He has been able to apply for medical help through the state. He was declined for medicare/medicaid but they approved him for 50% coverage through the county clinic.

They only provide partial services and due to the number of junkies that work the system they provide NO pain meds for any reason what so ever, so Josh will be seen there as we can and will been seen by the family Dr to manage pain and provide other services they do not offer.

Tuesday he was seen by the county dentist. They did x-rays of his mouth and determined that the bone that supports the teeth in the front of your mouth just below the nose was broken and it was pushed into the nerves of the teeth. Therefore they can not save any of the four upper front teeth. They will pull those on Thursday the 5th.

He will need to allow the bone to heal before a partial can be built and the county clinic does not provide those services so he will need to go to a denture clinic in Tyler for that approximately three weeks later. The broken teeth in the bottom of his mouth they feel can be rebuilt and saved.

He saw our family Dr yesterday and she was a blessing. She was able to give us copies of the reports from the ER and go over them with us. She informed us of results we were not aware of. Joshuas, nose is broken in three places and the bone between the sinus cavity in the forehead is broken as well, these really can not be set but will need to be watched because it can impare his breathing in the future if it heals poorly.

That being the case she had a connection to an ENT in town that saw Joshuas within 4 hours of her phone call. We had been told previously that he was booked until the end of December. He looked at Josh and told us that at this time he feels the bones will heal without doing harm.

He was willing to "set" Joshuas nose for cosmetic purposes but said that Josh was blessed in the fact that, although the breaks are numerous, none apprear to be a danger at this time.

Given the fact that everything hurts right now Josh gave a resounding NO to the offer to set his nose to make it look better. We all then sort of chuckled and agreed with Josh.

He will be monitoring Joshus progress to ensure that all heals without hampering his breathing and sinus drainage.

Also, Josh spoke with the police about the Texas victims compensation fund and he is applying for that program now. It appears from all of the documentation we have read regarding it that Josh should qualify without an issue.

This is a fund set out by the state and funded by the fines criminals pay that reimburses victims of vilolent crime for the medical care they are in need of.

I took him to the office to apply yesterday and they gave us a packet of forms and we are returning them today. They told us it is a government program so it is a very long and tedious progress BUT it will be a blessing when it all comes to fruition.

All in all its moving forward. God is watching over us and I know that Josh will be safe and ok. My job hunt is not producing much of anything right now but I feel that it is in Gods plan that it not at this time.

After all God knows what we need long before we do and if I had found something fast like I was badgering HIM to do I would not have been able to work and care for Joshua when he needs me now. God has got it under control and when this has passed I know that HE will open the right doors.

GOD obviously protected Josh in this attack for all the damage that has been done he is alive and getting the care he needs. He may be eating with some plastic teeth and wearing some scars when all is said and done.

But he is alive and not any of the other horrible things that could have come from this. That is huge and a fantastic reason to praise God and thank HIM for HIS hand on my and HIS provision.

I just ask that you thank and praise God today for HIS blessings and answered prayers. Ask HIM to continue to bless and watch over Josh in this process and minimize his pain and suffering as you feel lead.

Thank you again for your many prayers, love and concern. May God bless and keep you always.

Roberta

As you can see Roberta's faith never waivers but keep praying my friends. Josh and Roberta can really use the prayers. Thank you so much!

Thanks for your continued prayers Izzy. I so agree about Roberta. Her relationship with Jesus is indeed awesome and inspiring. And she's totally sincere about it all. She doesn't just type the words to try to appear righteous. She walks the walk 24-7 and that walk is with Jesus all the way. I am so honored to call her one of my closest friends.

Thanks again Izzy and God bless you and yours!

No worries Philopatir. God rocks and He is going to get Josh and Roberta through this some how, some way, in the way that only God can do and for His glory. God bless you.

Father, when Satan strikes out his hand with vehemence, he can never imagine the way your heart bleeds. And though it seems that injustice and brutality reign, a day will come when violations will be reckoned. Until then Lord, you reside in Joshua reconstructing him from the inside out with a love that a cold world cannot comprehend.

In Jesus' name... Amen
