no mo isaiah i am done with Isaiah (finally) it is only 66 chapters. i have read it before, but i really don't remember 63 being so much about the trinity when i read it before. that was good, because it helped me to deal with the trinity which can sometimes be hard. i will move on to jeremiah next (the weeping poet) and then lamentations which is always sad as well. i have been trying to read at least a chapter a day since i began this (last year?). although i sometimes read more, i usually read at least one a day. i have gone through the whole bible now at least 6 times, and i have tried to read a different translation each time. i think i quit midway thru the kjv and switched to the newkjv. i have been reading the niv this time, and the first time i read through the whole thing. the niv is my favorite so far, but i did really like the message. |

I can't really relate to the thee and thou stuff.  also there is a MAJOR addition in 1 john 5 that got added and they have not fixed it for the new kjv. it is not wrong theologically (per se) it is an addition that ads the trinity. but it was NOT in the original manuscript, and that is wrong

New International Version is just an English translation, a good one, of the bible

I started with the N.I.V. when first saved, then went to the N.K.J.V. and now read the K.J.V. I use Dakes study Bible. It's amazing, best Bible I've had. A widow gave me it to me, it was her husband's Bible, he was a pastor. It opened up the Scriptures for me like never before. When some words or meanings are a bit hard, I have my N.K.J.V. near me and look it up in there, that usually clarifies what it's saying. God bless you in your studies. i had to learn koine greek and hebrew in seminary, but i don't use either enough regularly to remember much, and my short term memory is shot, so i look words up online when i need to clarify

my biggest problem with the kjv is that it is antiquated English and harder to read than plain English. my SECOND biggest problem is that it is flawed by the Spurious Reference to the Trinity Added in 1 John 5 7-8 that is NOT in any of the earlier greek manuscripts. they KNOW that this was added after the original, and yet they don't correct it. it is correct theologically, but it IS an addition that should not have been added, and that bothers me. otherwise, I don't care which translation people use, and I DON'T want to argue about it. just so that people read the bible

I think I have seen dr. mac aurthur before. I usually watch james maCDonnel(ms?) show. he is a pastor in paletine up here and he is pretty good.

I have to agree about the NIV. It reads beautifully, with little confusion for the average American reader today, but I found it to have some inaccuracies too, that I sensed at the time were an attempt at political correctness. I'd never tell anyone not to read it. but I'd want to warn them about the drawbacks they should probably keep in mind as they do. GBU, Gavin
