Here's a Question for You. . .

"Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open." -- John Barrymore

Are you happy?

That's either an easy or a hard question. You either are and know it, or aren't and are chasing after it. There's no middle ground.

If you're happy and you know it. . .how did you get there? What road did you take?

If you're not happy and you're wondering why. . .how did you get there and which road are you on?

There is one school of thought that we, each of us, create our own happiness. It's a state of being we consciously choose. It is a part of us, like breathing.

Another hypothesis is that happiness is something we strive for along our journey.

Which is it? Consciously choosing or working for it?

For me, it was a conscious decision to be happy when being miserable no longer worked for me. I can tell you the exact moment it happened. I had watched the DVD of "The Secret" -- about the Law of Attraction -- and realized for the first time in my life that by the law of physics, I was drawing negative things to myself. When this epiphany hit me, I went out onto my deck and did the happy dance, whispering -- because it was about 3am -- I'm free, I'm free.

Ever since, I've been happy. Of course, I have bad days. Everyone does, but I bounce back quickly realizing that God meets all my needs in his own time.

I think happiness also depends on how patient you are. If life isn't happening fast enough for you, I would imagine you're not as happy as you could be. I know I wasn't before my reawakening.

So, tell me. . .are you happy? If yes, why? If no. . .why?

"If the doctor told me I had six minutes to live, I'd type a little faster." — Isaac Asimov

Great post! I'm usualy happy. Illness gets me down, pain, meds, all that, but I'm still happy mostly. I learned that I had to make a choice to be happy and feed that choice.
