Which way is up?

I've gotten so many scammer emails, it makes me question every email message I receive now.

Is there some secret formula to telling the difference?

To me, everything is beginning to look like a red flag. The biggest one for me is when they include their personal email addy in their first contact, requesting that we only have contact off this website. Or, include their Yahoo ID and ask that we use Messenger to chat to get to know one another. I always report the men who do that. Another sure sign is if the man is more than a decade younger than me. I mean, really? One more is if they're not from the US, but don't include which country they are from.

Is there any way of knowing for sure I'm not being scammed/conned?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Racefan you are amazing! Thank you so much for the link to your blog post on scammers. Looks like most if not all the emails I get every day are from scammers and con artists.

How sad and disappointing.

Hi Schofield and thanks for the advice (and inadvertent cat typing lol). I've tried the church they attend question and they are always very vague. Good point!

I've been going by your rule of thumb, Webling, and 99% of my emails do have the contact info in them. If not, I'll reply. Then the second email I get is all about how they can't get on this site much and then they include their contact info. Same old scammer song.
