He offered all that to humanity though humanity offered Him nothing in return except gall and vinega

The seven words of our Lord on the Cross .

Seven words ( Pronouncements ) made by our Lord , Redeemer and Savior in His passion on the Cross. They were a life blood for us all.

The First Word :

" Father , forgive them for they do not know what they do "

The Second Word :

" Today You will be with Me in paradise "

The third Word :

" Woman , behld your ..........behold your mother "

The fourth Word :

" My God , My God , why have You forsaken Me ? "

The fifth Word :

" I thirst "

The sixth Word :

" It is finished "

The seventh Word :

" Father , into Your hands I commend My spirit "

We recognize in Christ's words on the Cross the property of giving...........

We are apt to wonder that while He was on the Cross , in a state of batteredness and submission , He was a Giver....

+ He gave forgiveness to His persecutors...

+ He gave paradise to the thief on His right side.....

+ He gave His blessed mother a spiritual and provided her with care and attention......

+ He gave Beloved John the blessdness of accomodatig Mary in his house....

+ He gave the Father the price of the Divine Justice as ordained .

+ He gave humanity atonement and Redemption ,
And gave us also security that the act of salvation has been accomplished .

In short , He has given everybody his due while no one gave Him anything !!

He offered all that to humanity though humanity offered Him nothing in return except gall and vinegar !!!!

On the Cross He did not address the Father but He also addressed humanity......the saints exemplified by the holy Virgin and John the Apostle , and also the penitent sinners represented by the thief on His right side.

And His words were words of blessedness and grace

His words followa certain order , the wisdom of which cannot be mistaken......... Others first , Himself , second. His being for the benefit of others........

We also notice that the Lord Jesus Christ mentioned His enemies before He mentioned His friends .

His first wors referred to His persecutors , the thief , then the Virgin Mary and St. John

His first three words pertained to the act of forgiveness and providence , while His last four words came as a declaration that the act of redemption was fulfilled.

They teach us that the Lord Jesus Christ , while on the Cross , was working for us ...

In His first words He demonstrated practically how to tolerate , forgive and love our enemies...........

In His last words " Into Your hands I commnd My spirit " , He revealed to us that the human soul is immortal ....
That the righteous spirit ascend to God after death.

In His third statement , He taught us about true love and care , and how to excute truely and practically the fifth commandment by honoring His mother.....

How many are the insights and observations that we can deduce from these seven pronouncements.

How significant is the number seven , too.

Let us delve into each and every one of them trying to grasp their meaning fully God's willing....

God bless you on these holy days.

If Jesus forgave them, then on what basis will they who crucified Him be judged? Are you also saying their sin was atoned? Was His forgiveness only for those in attendance?

The Lord Jesus Christ in His forgiveness of His persecutors has put into practice , one of His teaching.
He has said before " love your enemies...Do good for those who hate you............." ( Mt.5:44 )
In this case he was performing exactly that what He had previously commanded humanity to do....He put into practice His teaching "love your enemies".
He forgave His persecutors and offenders.

Brother,
His words " Father forgive them ', when He said them , He did not mean to forgive all His persecutors without exception.
For no body could be endowed with forgiveness unless he fulfils two essential condition: Faith and pentiene.
Without faith and pentience no one can attain salvation or forgiveness.
Father forgive those who do believe and repent.
Forgiveness would not apply to those who crucified Him and theirancestors...

The Lord's forgiveness to His persecutors influnced much that hard hearted thief on his right hand....
He did not start his life in fear of God and his sins led him to the cross. Whilst on the cross he joined the other thief in reproving the Lord ( Mt.27:43 ). But suddenly he was transformed and began to have faith.
He turned from a reviler to a defender, and from a mocker into a man of faith......that's why the Lord said to him ( Today you will be with Me in paradise "

True , God allowed that Jesus suffer , sacrifice Himself and be tortured but did not break away from Him.......
It was not a separation but rather dispensation.

"My God , My God , why have You forsaken Me "
This statement does not mean a separation of the divine nature of Jesus Christ from His Human nature , nor does it mean that the Father has forsaken the Son.
It means rather that the Father has allowed Him to be tormented.

The word "Forsaken " means that the torment of crucifixion was actual and that God's wrath was excruciating

Hi blessed HeIsRisenRejoice

I chose the name Demas (the name of the thief on the right side) for I wish to have that promise from our Lord Christ to Demas " Today you will be with Me in paradise "

For if the thief (Demas)has got a promise to be in Paradise , we should be in no way discourged whatever our sins may be.

If the thief's pentience was accepted in the last moments of his life , we should not give up if all our past has been a waste.

As soon as Demas the thief on the right said " Remember me , Lord " , he received an answer , "Today you will be with Me in paradise "

Dear sister in Christ
we should preserve in our prayers and supplications , and keep reciting : " Lord remember me " .......and say it over and over , from the bottom of our hearts and with faith , and be sure that God will respond to us.

The Lord did not promise Demas the thief to be in paradise alone , but He pledged further , that the thief will be in His company.Actually the best thing in paradise is to be with the Lord.....

Truely paradise without the Lord is nothing , but the real bliss is to be with the Lord......to enjoy His love , company , parenthood and kindness....For that reason we should not ask for the paradise but ask for the Lord our Savior and Rdeeemer Himself.....

Thank you for comment.

Brother& Sister ae you sure about the destination of your spirit ?
Is it that when you give up your spirit after a lengthly life , you will commend it into the Hands of Christ or that the angels would carry your spirit as it did to that of Lazarus ?

Or is it that the devil will claim it saying ," It is mine , it was one of my soldiers under my command.....so I will take it to be with me ."?

How awful would that be !!!!!

Would you , brother/sister , make sure then about the destination of your spirit !!

Be sure , my beloved , to remember always this beautiful chant:
" Let me die the death of the righteous , and let my last end like his "
( Numbers 23:10 )

Let us commend our spirits from now on into His Hands by shunning all evil and by living in union with God "

Commend yourself into the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ. Be sure tht you will hear His beautiful voice chantin : " And I give them eternal life , and they shall never perish , neither shall any one snatch them our of My Hand "
(Jn.10:28,29)

Whenever we feel tempted by a sin or lust , we should ask ourselves this question : Is my spirit now in the hands of the Lord ?............

Blessed is the Hand of God .It is full of love and mercy.....

RESPONSE: Disagree. I do not see how being forsaken can translate into "torment." You are saying that there was no break in fellowship between the Father and the Son while the Son was suffering the penalty of imputed sin which is death? If the Son was taking upon Himself the sin of the elect, and God is holy, this would create a contradiction in the nature of God to have any part in the activity of sin in its exhibition.

Forsaken does not mean torment. However, being forsaken can cause torment, but again, there must be a sense of loss involved. In the case you cite above, if the Son was being imputed our sin this would cause God the Father to remove Himself from association of what is unholy whether it be by secondary causes or actual involvement. In this case the Son becoming sin and in this earthly life possessing and maintaining constant Presence and fellowship with His Father, it was necessary, and even demanded, that the Father have nothing to do with sin while sin was being imputed to the Son. Therefore, a break was necessary for this reason, as well as God is Life and has no connection/fellowship with death. Death being the result of God's sentence for sin. The sin being "disobedience." And the Son bearing the judgment which is death.

The Biblical definition of "forsaken" is
"to leave behind in some place, i.e. (in a good sense) let remain over, or (in a bad one) to desert."

Brother ,

Christ's Divine nature and His Human nature were never separated for a single moment or a wink of the eye.

That is I firmly believe in..................If ever His Divine nature deserted Him , His redemption could never have been considered as infinite , rendering infinite salvation , capable for atoning for the sins of all humanity throughout the ages.

Thus there was no rapture between His divine and human nature.

As for His relationship with the Father , the Father did not forsake Him. Let us consider this verse :
" Believe Me that I am in the Father , and the Father in Me "
(Jn.14:11 )

The Seven pronouncements ( Words ) were made by our Lord in His passion on the Cross .They were a lifeblood for us all.

At very few instances did He talk during His trial or while being tortured and reviled . He fortified His own right , and conceded His self-respect . " Love does not seek its own "
( 1 Cor.13:5 ).

But while on the Cross He spoke out , when it behoved Him to speak .

He spoke out for our sake , our benefit and our salvation.

Each word of His seven words on the Cross had its impact.

I am going to discuss these points in depth later on , but for now I have some comments on the words He addressed the Father.

The Lord Jesus Christ addressed the Father in two ways :

" Father " and " My God "

He contested those who challanged Him , saying :

" If You are the Son of God , come down from the cross
" Mt.27:40)

He offered evidence that He is the Son of God.

However , He did not descend from the cross , but made the Cross ascend to Heaven !

By the word " Father " He established His divinity

and by that of " God " He established His humanity.

By both words he declared His being the incarnated God ,
who " Was manifested in flesh "
( 1 Tim.3:16 )

By the word " Father " He refuted the heresy of Arius in the fouth century who denied Christ's divine nature.

and by the term " My God " , he refuted the heresy of Eutyches in the fifth century who denied Christ's human nature

By the first He was speaking as Son of God ,
By the second He was speaking as the Son of Man , or the representative of humanity.

When He spoke with God the Father , He first addressed Him as the Father , then as God.........

Frst , as " The Only Begotten Son , who is in the bosom of the Father "
( Jn.1:18 )

Second, as the Son of Man born since fullness of time.....

I hope that those members understand......

Blessings

The Lord Christ's relationship with the Father .

The relationship between the Son and the Father proves the Divinity of the Son.

This relationship is mostly declared by the the Lord Christ Himself.

However some members attack Christ's Divinity by lowering Christ Jesus to the level of ordinary humans as the Arians did , Or raising humans to the level of Christ as those who believe in the philosophy of deification of man !

And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears."

[U]The devil wants to turn religion into arguments and discussions.

Turning religion into philosopy is another point in diabolic wars.

The Lord Jesus Christ wanted religion to be spirit and life.

So , He said ,
" The words that I speak unto you , they are spirit , and they are life "
( Jn 6:63).

That means that we should understand the spirit of the word and turn it into life within us .

This religion becomes a way for purification of the heart and a guide to cleave to God in order that a person may attain eternal life .Perhaps this is what the Lord meant by the words ,

" I am come that they might have life , and that they might have it more abundantly "
( Jn 10:10)

But the devil wants to turn religion into arguments and discussions......

He wants reasoning to replace spirit and argument to replace practices .

thus the religious life becomes mere reasoning as if christianity were a philosophy which is studied and analized.

Christianity becomes merely a programme to be taught and not a life we lead .

The mind does no harm to the devil if it remains so , not moved by the spirit and that is what the devil wants....

The reasoning scheme which the devil wants is fought by St. Paul the apostle.

This is clearly evident in the first two chapters of St. Pauls' first Epistle to the Corinthians where he says ,

" When I came to you , I came not with excellency pf sppech or of wisdom "

and " my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom but in demonstrationof the spirit and of power"
( 1 Cor 1:17)

and also , " .. not with wisdom of words , lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect"( 1 Cor 1:17)

Concentrating on the Cross of Christ is a spiritual act which may be hindered by being involved in reasoning and arguments.

The devil wishes to involve our whole lives with mental debates and refutations ....

It is still his scheme , to send us in every generation someone who tries to turn religion into discussions .....wishing by this to hinder spiritualities on the one side and to arouse disruptions and controversies on the other side , even under the name of religion and of defending faith !!!

Thus the christians becomes divided into parties and sects and the devil rejoices.

Those who fall in heresies are a gain to him and those who are tired of suspicions are another gain.

So we have to be cautious and vigilants durig our discussions!!!

The devil tries to turn even spiritual matters into philosophy.!!!!!

Simplicity and wisdom .

Simplicity of behaviour is not the same as simple mindness.

It does not embarking on things without thinking or inquiring , and this simplicity does not conflict with wisdom.
The Lord Jesus Christ said , ' Be simple.... amd wise .."
( Mt.6:22)

Simplicity means not being complicated and difficult .
It does not mean not thinking.

Some people imagine that their love for a person means that they will protect and defend him whatever he has done wrong!!!

But true love is to save this person from his sins and and his rude comments , even if it means rebuking him until he abandons them......the exploitation of Tolerance and forgiveness is always misunderstood........

The Bible teaches us about wise simplicity and simple wisdom

The Sixth words of our Lord on the Cross .

" It is finished "
( Jn.19:30 )

Our Lord Jesus Christ the righteous and the perfect in everything , the Holy and the one and only one who committed no sin , the One who lived on earth a whole life to the full satisfaction and pleasure of God the Father , was also perfect in His preaching and ministry.

He was able to accomplish what the Father wanted Him to accomplish and then cry triumphantly :
" I have finished the work which You have given Me to do "
( Jn.17:4 ).

When He realised that He had completed the act of Redemption and atonement , and that He had satisfied the divine justice fully and nothing else could be done , He cried triumpahntly
" It is finished "

The act of Salvation for all has been accomplished , Redemption has been fulfilled ,
the Son of Man was able to crush the serpent's head .

God by reigning over the cross ( Ps.96:10 ) , was able to demolish the kingdom of the devil .

The atonement now became all encompassing and adequate to liberate everybody.

Now the veil of the temple could be rent in twain , and the way to the sanctuary could be opened , Reconciliation is now accomplished and the hope of the deceased saints have been fulfilled.

Nothing is left for You , God , but to ,
" gird Your sword upon Your thigh , O Most Mighty , with Your glory and Your Majesty "
( ps.45:3 ) ,
the Lord cried in joy " It is finished "

The words , " It is finished is the cry of joy and triumph "

He had fought and won.

He was able to pay for us and establish His heavenly spiritual kingdom - to shutter the kingdom of the devil who was formerly called " The prince of the world "
( Jn.24:30 )

Could you , brethern win what the Lord hs won ?

Could you ascend the cross and crush the head of the serpent ?

Could you look at the work God assigned to you and say: " It is finished " ?

Put before you always the picture of the Lord perfecting His mission.

Blessings

Isaiah 61:1-2a..."The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord..."

NOTE: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me..."
Christ means "anointed [one]." The Hebrew is "Messias" and it means the same thing. "Christ" is transliterated from the Hebrew "Messias."

    THE FULFILMENT:

Luke 4:18-21..."The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears."
So many words that say the same thing as you have been saying for years, BLAH BLAH BLAH! You make me sick to my stomach. Hasn't the light bulb burned out on "The Projector" yet? Hail the Almighty Self-proclaimed Prophet!

When are you going to get enough of yourself, Mr. Weeper?

That's fine, but are you going to respond to the Biblical texts I submitted?

The Cross is outside them , not inside them !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two meanings of the Cross.

Some people love the Cross for its blessings and its strength , and its doctrine of faith........... but they do not love the Cross in their lives. By which I mean that they do not like to carry their cross..........!

The Cross is outside them , not inside them !

They love Golgotha for its spirit of self- sacrifice , but want to avoid its pains !!

Your weeping Demas !!
