The Bible wasn't compiled into a single book form until 364 years after Christ ascended. By that time there were hundreds of books to choose from, and hundreds that had fallen off into obscurity (dust).

However, I haven't dug out my collections, but I believe there some of those books u mentioned to be found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Anyway, the Bible was compiled because the Church at the time (Early Roman Catholic) sought to unify the readings of all the churches throughout the Roman (Now a Christian ) empire.

Bishops from all around the known world assembled in Carthage in 397AD, and selected the books that would be included. In the process they kept many of the books that were found among the readings of most regions, rejected some, and added still others.

"Canonization" comes from a Greek term refering to a measuring stick. The Bishops at that time declared 66 books to be "canon", meaning these r the best we have and all others should be compared to them for validity and authenticity. (The Bishops of the time also included 14 other books which they did not declare to be canon, but felt they were of great value. These 14 later came to be known as the Apocrypha. Later, Protestants rejected them entirely. That is why today a Catholic Bible differs from a Protestant Bible)

I like this blog post. 10 years ago I had started searching for many answers to questions I had about my faith. In the process I learned just how we got the Bible, and I also read hundreds of other scriptures from the times that were not included. Been a long time tho, but I still have those books in my library.
