Search the Scriptures!

The Scriptures are the source where you would find what Jesus did.

And if that doesn't help come talk to me.

Thank you all for your various responses...and they were quite different, I may add!
I am concerned for "Longing for More" who replied, "That if you can't decide and it doesn't matter to God,(!) you're free. Do as you please."
As free as we Christians think we may be, we are all still answerable to God for every single thing that we do, or don't do, here on earth. Everything matters to God, absolutely EVERYTHING! In particular, what WE do to others.
Can we continue our way without thinking or caring about the awful condition of men, women and children who are dying body and soul because of a lack of Christian help?
I do not believe Jesus could and He strongly demonstrated this in the account of His life in the four Gospels.
Can you say that this is none of my business.....that each person should take care of their own problems?
Isn't it true that if every Christian in this world did as Jesus would do, society, the business world, the very political system under which we live, would be so changed that human suffering would be reduced radically?
I realise that Jesus said, "The poor you will always have...." but what He meant was is that if there were no poor, how then would we be able to feel compassion or the need to help them, and to demonstrate Him, in our own lives?
What is the test of Christian discipleship? Isn't it the same as in Christ's own time? Have our surroundings modified or changed the test? If Jesus was visible here on earth today, would He not call His church to follow His teachings?
He would! He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father except by Him!
He has given us His life, His blood and His death and resurrection. He has paid the total price on our behalf. What's changed then?
Ask yourself, what would be the result in this world if every Christian would begin to do as Jesus would do? Maybe the exact results would never be known but we know that many things that are now practised by Christians would have to stop.
A vast majority of Christians today, in most of our churches, are living soft, easy, selfish lives, very far from any sacrifice that could be called a sacrifice.
A Christianity that attempts to sacrifce by proxy is not the Christianity of Christ. There isn't a different path today from that of Jesus' own times. It's the same path.....STILL!
The call of this dying century and of the new one soon to be, is a call for a new discipleship, a new following of Jesus, more like the early, simple, apostolic Christianity as when the disciples left all and followed Jesus wherever He led them.
Nothing but this kind of commitment could face the destructive selfishness of our age with any hope of overcoming it.
There is too much "uncaring" Christianity today.
We need more of the REAL kind. We need a revival of the Christianity that Christ taught.
We have fallen unconsciously, lazily and selfishly into a slack discipleship without realising it.
If we should cry out, "Lord, Lord", He would probably say to many of us, "I never knew you; depart from Me!"
OUCH! How terrible is that??
Therefore, what is it to be a Christian today then?

THE ANSWER?
IT IS TO IMITATE JESUS.
IT IS TO DO AS HE WOULD DO.
IT IS TO WALK IN HIS STEPS.

I sincerely hope that no one feels intimidated or offended by what I have written here. No matter what I think of myself, I am still a sinner saved by the grace of God and I thank Him for giving Jesus to stand in my place. It is His blood that cleanses me from all unrighteousness and it is His blood that paid for all my sins.

Shiralee...

I love your response.
I love your response because it is the truth.
I would love many responses from others if they would only write the truth.
But they have to know the truth first. And they lack this.

Do me a favor...
When you see something I write you dn't understand, please, ask me of it. Before we rightly judge we must understand what it is we are judging. It must be either of God, in which case it is then necessary to understand it so that we may apply it to our lives, or it will be of the enemy, and the enemy is ourselves...our carnal mind and our flesh. Lucifer, Satan, Devil, whoever you decide to call him, is a pawn and has no real power and authority over us unless given it by God. Remember Job.

It is far and wide that I see someone here who understands that God comes first, in all things. It is far and wide that I see someone here who understands the dynamic integrity of the Body of Christ, and who understand that we are in Him as He in us and we in each other. The Word of God is for doctrine, reproof. correction, and training in righteousness so that we may be throughly furnished unto all good works.

You can see that I post the Word of God. And I seek others who love God and His Word enough so that He would be the central subject of our discussion. I have also tried to be forthright with Longing4more is supplying the Word of God to her comments, but she does not hear them. She exalts herself as the central subject and not truth. People here like you to lie to them. They prefer that you talk sweetly and say nice things about them, but you and I know that when a relationship is in accordance with the Scripture in all things that those niceties will come. So will loyalty, and committment, and devotion, and defense of true brethren.

Many will say they are "christian" but you will have to look long and hard for a true disciple of Jesus Christ. All true disciples of Jesus Christ are christian, but not all christians are disciples of Jesus Christ.

I seek those who are true believers in Jesus Christ. I want that fellowship that comes in putting God first and in obeying His Word. You can tell who they are. I can, too. For I seek to please God. And I show my love for others I consider brethren by speaking truth to them so that my part can be joined to their part and we become whole.
The foot cannot say to the mouth...

I have no need of thee.

Don't worry about offending someone.

The Word of God is offensive to many here.
