The Veil Is Rent

The Veil Is Rent

It is said that when Christ died upon the cross that the veil in the temple at Jerusalem was rent, which is to say the thick curtain that hid God from the common mans view was torn in two. Up until that time only one man one time per year could enter into the holy of holies and stand before the Ark of the Covenant where God dwelt.

Since that time we have had the privilege of coming to know God in ever more intimate ways through His Holy Spirit that was poured out upon His people at the day of Pentecost. The person of God that was once hidden from view has now been opened for all to see and experience.

What I wish to speak to you about today is the opportunity that we all share to know God personally. Whereas in times past the Jews relied upon the high priest to make atonement once a year we can now individually enter into His presence at will and talk to Him personally.

Presently, Christianity is in a situation similar to the time of Christ's first comin where the common people more or less rely upon the clergy as intermediaries between them and God. We may say that we have a personal relationship with Jesus yet when it comes to important decisions or questions of belief we most often times follow what our church leaders say rather than what we are hearing from the Holy Spirit.

In effect this stymies the will of God in our lives for what our Father wants to do in us and through us cannot be accomplished. We put our faith in men who say they speak for God rather than the word of God spoken directly to us.

While there is a time and place to listen to a multitude of wise and seasoned counselors we all must mature to the point where God can speak to us directly. There is no higher authority than the Holy Spirit and we should progress to the point where we are confident in His voice enough to follow it.

There is a cult of authority rampant in the Christian church which states, as its main tenant, that you cannot know the voice of God for yourself and must submit to them that watch for your souls. We are constantly told that what the Devil does is so close to what God does it takes someone more mature and learned than us to know the difference. In the name of safety we are told that we must obey even when everything in our hearts, minds, and souls says differently. Fear is the great motivator that these types of leaders use to pressure Gods people to do what they say rather than what the almighty, all knowing, and all powerful God commands.

In the end this type of benign spiritual dictatorship only serves to imprison Gods people and keep them from hearing and follow His voice. Essentially the Devil has severely limited the effectiveness of the Body of Christ because it will not listen to the Head which is Jesus. What God says and what God wants to do must needs be filtered through the leadership of His Church before His people are willing to hear and act upon it.

Unfortunately, most leaders in Gods church have reached that level of responsibility not by being principled men and women of God but rather by being spiritual politicians. These types of people are compromisers out of necessity and have diluted the truth (in the name of getting along with others) so many times they no longer stand for anything that is not "acceptable." Thus, when Gods people come to them with a truth or revelation if it does not pass the "normative" test they automatically reject it and those that bring it.

The time has come for Gods people to be set free once again from the bondage of being under those who will not let them worship God and obey His voice as He commands. Just as compromise with Pharaoh was not possible so compromise with those who lead God's church is not possible. We must obey God rather than man.

Staying in Egypt and worshipping God there was not an option God provided His people for He knew they could never be free while they yet lived among those who worshipped false Gods. No matter how sincerely people might wish to worship Him in the midst of an ungodly nation our Father knew that separation was the only way for His chosen to be free to follow only Him. Likewise, if God is speaking to you through His Holy Spirit and those in your church or religious group will not allow you to follow His voice you must also separate yourself and allow God to lead you into His divine promise for your life.

Many cannot accept these sayings for they have grown comfortable in Sodom and indeed even sit at the gate of this sinful city. They say it might not be all good but at least they have a position from which they can make a small difference. The truth of the matter is that where you are currently at is slated for destruction and if you continue to cling to what God has determined to destroy you will suffer its same fate. Even though, like Lot, you have invested everything you must leave it when God bids to go and not look back.

People often times do not wish to hear how things really are. When Jeremiah came bearing an oxen yoke upon his shoulders made of wood signifying that God was going to allow His people to be conquered by Babylon they refused to believe it. A false prophet even broke the wooden yoke denying that it would come to pass. Through that blaspheme God spoke to Jeremiah to make a yoke of iron and tell His disbelieving people that His purposes would be carried out no matter what.

I feel goaded in my spirit to discuss these basic precepts with my brethren whether or not those who read these words believe or understand them fully. Unfortunately, many have already made up there minds and their foreheads are as brass and cannot receive what the Holy Spirit says to them anymore. However, there are still those who have tender hearts and spirits before our Lord and who truly desire to follow him: they simply lack an open vision to do so.

So as a watchman on the wall I say this to you:

“Do not let those around you stop you from hearing God's voice for yourself and if you have to make a choice always err on the side of believing God rather than man.”

God bless,

Michael

"Holy of Holies" "Karen Wheaton"

In the Holy of Holies
Behind the Heavy Veil
Sat the Ark of the Covenant
Where the Most High has Dwelled

AND only the High Priest
Could enter therein
To offer a Sacrifice for Atonement of Sin

But the Veil was wrent
in an instant
Revealing THAT Holy Place

FOR on a Hill Nearby
On a Rugged Cross

Justice met Grace

NOW I can go to the Holy of Holies
I can Kneel and make My Petitions Known

A HandClap of Praise, Karen?

Yes, great post. And you do write in a way easy to follow and read. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I love the leadership God has placed in my life, but I hear Him speak to me. I agree tho that what you say is going on in many of our churches. Blessings
