Encouraging others is a great virtues . Encouraging others . Encouraging others is a great virtue. Therefore the Scripture says , " Comfort the fainthearted , upohold the weak , be patient with all " ( 1 Thess.5:14 ) Foremost of those who need encouragement are : The fainthearted and the Weak : The fainthearted are broken down within and are mean-spirited. Those need encouragement , and need someone to hold and support them lest they fail and perish. The weak also needs to be supported and strengthened. If we scorn and avoid a weak person , or disclaim and mock him as a fallen or lost person , we will lose him. If we leave him without support , he will perish , for he will go on falling and sinning. But see what the Scripture says : " He who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins " ( Jas.5:20 ) Much rebuking to a weak person may destroy him. He rather needs the work of grace , not reproach. To him applies the words of the Scripture , " the evil I will not to do , that I pracice.......it is no longer I who do it , but sin that dwells in me " ( Rom.7:19,20 ) The apostle says concerning such people , " Remember the prisoners as if chained with them....." (Heb.13:3 ) Try to encourage such a chained person , help him to get rid of his chains , since we are all subject to the same weakness. Even if you found him , in spite of your help, slackening concerning his own salvation , do not disdain his weakness. Remember the words of the Scripture ; " Strengthen the hands which hang down , and the feeble knees " ( Heb.12:12 ) Encourage everybody , and never frustrate anyone , for the Scripture says , " Do not rejoice over me , my enemy, when I fall , I will arise " ( Mic.7:8 ) and , " A righteous man may fall seven times and rise again " ( Prov.24:16 ) The fallen : Our Lord Jesus Christ , used to sit with the tax-collectors and sinners , and He said , " I have not come to call the righteous , but sinners to repentance " " Those who are well have no need for a physician , but those who are sick " ( Lk.5:32,31 ) If you are one of those sick , sinners , driven away , broken , or wounded , trust that Christ came for you . He rejoices for one sinner who repents than for ninty-nine who need no repentance. ( Lk.15 ) How beautiful is that which the Lord did for the sinful woman in Jerusalem ! He found her thrown out , struggling in her own blood , and He did not leave her , but He says , " I spread my wing over you .....and entered into a covenant with you , and you became Mine ......Then I washed you in water , I throughly washed off your blood , and I anointed you with oil ......I adorned you with ornament ..... and a beautiful crown on your head ....you were exceedingly beautiful and succeeded to royality " ( Ezek.16:6-14 ) It is God's way to encourage the sinners who are in the course of repentance . He strengthens them and give them beautiful promises. He says , " I will sprinkle clean water on you , and you shall be clean , I will cleanse you from all your filthiness......I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you ; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh . I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My Statutes , and you will keep My judgments and do them " ( Ezek.36:25-27 ) Dear brothers and sisters, Be of good courage , your salvation is not wholly your work, but rather more God's work in you. For as the apostle says , " If we are faithless , He rmains faithful ; He can not deny Himself " ( Tim.2:13 ) The Lord who chose the Magalene who had seven demons ( Mk.16:9 ) , made her a disciple , appeared to her after the resurrection , and He entrusted her with announcing it to the apostles ( Mt.28:10 ). He is cabable of saving you likewise . He chose Matthew the tax collector to be one of the twelve . He pitied Zacchaeus and went into his house and said , " Today salvation has come to this house " ( Lk.19:9 ) When they told Him about the tree which gave no fruit and suggested that it be cut down , He said , " Let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and feritlize it . And if it bears fruit , well. But if not , after that you cut it down " ( Lk.13:8 ) He gave it another chance . Furthermore , He does not only encourage people , but He also stand at the door and knocks ( Rev.3:20 ) He encourages the weak , the sinners , and even the desperate. Have a blessed day Sicowin4. |
