The resurrection of the dead.

The resurrection of the dead.

We do believe in the resurrection of all the dead ; righteous and wicked.

As said in the Gospel of John ,

" the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth- those who have done good , to the resurrection of life , and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation "
( Jn.5:28,29 )

The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ was the firstfruit of our resurrection.

Chapter 15 of the first Epistle to the Corinithians speaks mainly about the resurrection of the dead.

The Apostle says ,

" But now Christ is risen from the dead , and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep . For since by man came death , by Man also came the resurrection of the dead ........But each one in his own order ; Christ the firstfruits , afterward those who are Christ's at His coming "

(1 Cor.15:20-23 )

We shal rise in spiritual heavenly bodies which are not material.

The apostle says about the raised bodies ,
" It is sown in dishonor , it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness , it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body , it is raised a spiritual body............And as we have born the image of the man of dust , we shall bear the image of the heavenly Man.....flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God "

( 1 Cor.15:42-50 )

He said also ,

" We also eagrly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ , who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body "
(Phil.3:20,21 )

This means that we shall rise in a body conforming to the glorious body in which the Lord rose.

The general resurrectin will be followed by the Judgment , and the latter will take place in the Second coming of the Lord.

So it is written ,

" For the of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angles , and then He will reward each according to his works "

( Mt.16:27 )

And also ,

" When the of man comes in His glory , and all the holy angels with Him then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him , and He will separate them one from another , as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats .And He will set the sheep on His right and the gats on the left "

( Mt.25:31-33 )

Then the Judgment begins and ends with the words ,

" And these will go away into everlasting judgment , but the righteous into eternal life "
( Mt.25:46 )

In the resurrection those who are alive will be caught up , and their bodies will be transformed.

Those who have fallen asleep , the Lord will bring with Him in His Second coming as the apostle says
( 1 Thess.4:14 )

Because the Lord will come

" with ten thousands of His saints "
( Jud.14 )

" For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout , with the voice of an archangel , and with the trumpet of God .And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

( 1 Thess.4:16, 17 )

In the resurrection , at the moment of being caught up, we shall change into spiritual bodies.

As the apostle says ,

" we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment , in the twinkling of an eye , at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible , and we shall be changed. For the corruptible must put on incorruption , and this mortal must put on immortality "

(1 Cor.15:51-53 )

It means that we shall put on the spiritual heavenly bodies which are not subject to corruption or death.

So , three serious events will take place successively , namely :

1. The Second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with His angels and ten thousands of His saints.

2. The resurrection of the dead , both the righteous and the wicked.

3. The general judgment of which the apostles says ,

" For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body , according to what he has done , whether good or bad "

( 2 Cor.5:10 )

At that point the present world will come to an end , and the life of the ages to come start , and everyone in his rank .

Brothers and sisters ,

He who prepares himself for the eternal life thinks much about it , about God , His angels and His saints, about God's dwelling with people in the heavenly Jerusalem , and about release of the spirit from the stress of the body , and sees that this is far much better.......and so he/she longs for it.

Blessings
