The absolute Authority of Jesus Christ.

Christ's authority over the Law .

The Lord Christ absolute authority & miracles testify to Him. His authority over creation , nature , life &death , angels and demons , as well as His authority of the Law , the kingdom and futhermore His authority over Himself.

His authority over the Law :

a) The Law is God's Law , and the commandments are God's Commandments:

God gave the Law from the beginning and hand it to Moses the prophet
( Ex.20 )

However , the Lord Christ gave us the Law of the New Testament :

He gave the Law in the Sermon on the Mount , in the Commandment to His disciples

" A new commandment I give to you..........
( Jn.13:34 ) ,

and in all the spiritual teaching He left about which was said ,

" He taught them as one having authority , and not as the scribes "
( Mt.7:29 )

b) The Lord Jesus Christ had His own view regarding the Law of the Old Testament :

This appears clearly in His wonderful strong words which He repeated many times in the Sermon on the Mount ,

" You have heared that it was said to those of the old....But I say to you........"

( Mt.5:22,28,32,34,39,44 )

No one can ever have such authority over God's Law except God alone.

c) The Lord Jesus Christ has also the power of legislation :

- With regard to the Sabbath : He declared that doing good is allowed on that day.

With regard to the tithes : He taught that the tithes are the least offering and should be observed with the commandment , " Give to him who asks you "

( Mt.5:42 )

With regard to monogamy and divorce

( Mt.5:32 )

The time is lacking to mention all the other laws laid down by the Lord Christ representing perfection.

d) Perhaps the most powerful expression about Christ's authority over legislation is that said by the Lord Himself egarding the Sabbath ,

" For the of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath "
( Mt.12:8 ) ; ( Mk.2:28 ) , ( Lk.6:5 )

Since Christ is the Lord of the Sabbath , and the Sabbath is the Lord's Day, then Christ is God

e) No man has ever dared to speak in such a way about the Law , saying ,

" But I say to you ".

Even Moses and the prophets used the words ,

" says the Lord "...........................

Jesus Christ could not have spoken with such authority , " But I say to you " unless He is God and Almighty.

He has authority over nature :

His authority over sea , wind & water.

His authority over the angels .

The kingdom is Christ's kingdom.

His authority over demons.

His authority over the Law.

His authority over life and death.

and His authority over Himself.

Jesus is True God.

The Lord Jesus Christ talking about the connection between life and Him , said He Himself is the Life.

He said ,
" I am the resurrection and life . He who believes in Me , though he may die , he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die "
( Jn.11:25,26 )

and also ,

" I am the Way , the the truth and the Life "
( Jn.14:6 )

Can any one ever say , " I am the life , the resurrection and the Truth " ?

His authority over the angels .

+ In Hebrews ; is being addressed by the words

" Your throne , O God , is forever and ever "

and putting of everything under His feet.

+ It is written that after the tempetation in the wildrness ,

" the angels ministered to Him "
( Mk.1:13 )

" and behold , angels came and ministered to Him "

( Mt.4:11 )

+ It is written about the angels being subject to Him

" .. Jesus Christ who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God , angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him "

( 1 Pet.3:21,22 )

Who can be the One that angels minister to and that the angels , authorities and powers are made subject to except God alone ?

+ It is written also about Him :

" Let all the angls of God worship Him "
( Heb.1:6 )

and that " at the name of Jesus every knee should bow ' of those in heaven...... "
( Phil.2:10 )

Of course the angels cannot worship or bow down except before God alone.

In the Revelation

" the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before Him , singing , " You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals "
( Rev.5:8 )

It is mentioned on many occasions that the angels are Christ's angels and He sends them.

" The of man will send out His angels , and they will gather out of His kingdom all the things that offend , and those who practice lawlessness and will cast them out into the furance of fire "

Who has the authority to send the angels on the Day of Judgment except God alone ?

" They will see the of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send His angels with a great sound of trumpet , and they will gather together His elect......
( Mt.24 :30,31 )

We notice here that the angels are His angels ,
the Kingdom is His kingdom ,
and the elect are His elect.......
This can never apply to , or to any creature whatsoever.

The angels belong to God alone , for they are God's angels as the Holy Bible says :

" Bless the Lord , you His angels "
( Ps.103:20 )

" Who makes His angels spirits , His ministers a flame of fire "
(Ps.104:4 ) , ( Heb.1 )

" My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths "
( Da.6:22 )

How then can the angels be God's angels and Christ's angels at the same time unlesss Both are One

Blessings
