Good Enough? Am I good enough to get to heaven? If I attend church, help my neighbor, take out the trash, volunteer in my community, say please and thank you --will this good behavior get me in on God's good side? Andy Stanley penned this short book with a purpose to answer "How good is good enough?" Andy's conversational tone keeps readers interested through the main arguments for a works-based religion and refutes them with the statements of Jesus and simple logic. This book was given to Michael, the Ex Mob guy and it helped him understand his need to surrender all to Christ. His belief as a Catholic was a performance based faith, and after reading this book, he now recommends it to gang members and folks who yet wonder if they are good enough, if they are saved or not. The great debate within the church about Salvation is spelled out with a final conclusion: by "faith" alone in Jesus Christ alone. Plus or minus nothing. Stanley takes the reader to the eye of the storm in religion. He speaks with a clarity as he boldly proclaims God's truth and defines the parameters of our faith in Jesus Christ. A simple, yet profound read. It rattles beliefs about being good and arriving in eternity. Most people believe that everybody lives forever somewhere, that once we die, our soul goes somehwere, and most Americans believe in heaven, a minority believe in hell. A great book to hand a friend who struggles with the truth. Available on Amazon. |

A close relative of performance based faith is legalism. I spent some 18 years in such a church. Its a hard burden to carry. Books as these help set people free. I have read several like this. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.
