THE MINKE WHALE
there are two types of Minke whale, the large and the dwarf, the one in the picture is the dwarf and they live mainly on Krill and smaller varieties of soft fish as well as squid and jellyfish.
Similar in nature to the dolphin really and are very shy but friendly.
Japan has said that they are merely hunting the whales for scientific purposes,,,,year right,,,if that be the case then i ask you why do they need to be coming back every year and shouldn't there be enough in just one whale to give them all the scientific results they could ever want.
And isn't it rather interesting that lately there have been more butcher and fish shops that have sprung up in japan, more than ever and they are even giving it to in schools as well.
I guess we are not going to see Captain Kirk travel back through time for George and Gracie and suddenly swoop them away to another time where they can re populate themselves.
And there would be a lot of truth in what Mr Spock would be saying in that if we were to assume that they were ours to do what we like with, then we would be as guilty as those who went out and caused their extinction.
I cannot in my own heart of hearts bear the thought that some day the whale songs will no longer be herd in our southern oceans,, Mr Spock is right in saying that to hunt a species to the point of extinction has purely no logic to it at all.

The only voice the whales have is their song,
beyond that they only have us to speak out for them.
The only scientific evidence you see from Japan that is shown is when they arrive back in Japan with their catch is you see a man or woman walk around the dock in a white coat and a name badge pinned to her chest, and a long name written along the ship that says RESEARCH.. well,,,,my motorcycle has SUZUKI written along the side,,,is that the same thing.

 Terrible...and the Navy here won't stop doing sonar? where the whales are. They beach themselves tortured by the sounds. They actualy kill themselves getting away from it. And it's just the Navy testing their stuff, no reason they couldn't stop it. It's terrible.
