DO WE PRAY THE RIGHT WAY, CAN IT ANGER OUR GOD.

Back jouring Labor weekend of last year was a long 4 day weekend, the friday was Hawkes Bay anniversary day, so we had 4 days whereas the rest of the country only had 3 days off.
My Girlfriend and I decided we would spend the weekend together and i would meet some of her friends for the first time.
Also last winter we didn't really get a lot of rain fall in the region so it had the local farmers worried about a spring dr out which as you know can be bad for cropping and here we depend heavily on cropping, especially in growing potato and apples.
I decided to make the 760km journey on my bike and leave at 8pm on the thursday night and would be with my girlfriend about 3pm the next day.
So i was really watching the weather forecast and it was really not looking good for the evening of the thursday.
Just an hour before i was set to head out it rained heavily for a moment then stopped, We both decided to pray and commit my ride down there to The Lord and ask for His protection over me as i traveled through the night.
At first i was going to pray for The lord to give me fine weather but then i felt the Holy spirit directing me not to pray that way, and He reminded me that people had been praying for rain and just ask God to keep me out of harms way and help me to keep a sharp mind,Give me extra sharp vision.
I set out and was on the road by 8pm and at first there was no rain for the first 30km then it bucketed down for the last 20km to Waipukurau.( i stopped for a coffee). There was a very heavy shower of rain but by the time i finished my coffee and had started my engine again the shower had stopped and for the next 20km was clear then heavy rain again. The water was that deep on the road that i was down to 50kmh/30mph, for the next 60km/45miles.
I stopped in the small town of Dannevirke and fuel led up and then checked the time on my cell phone and to my horror i had lost a whole hour of my journey through having to go slow in the heavy rain, another heavy shower came down, Hop back on my bike and the shower stops. I said to the Lord,,Oh Lord i have lost nearly two hours on my journey, Lord this could be damaging.
Just then the voice of God came through very clearly and almost audibly, Do nt stop for the next 100km, and do 110kmh. I set out again and there was absolutely no rain for the next 100km but a lot of water on the road which i had to be mind full of. I was just south of Palmerston North city and God said once more, Go faster, so i opened up to 110 like He told me earlier,,No faster again,, so i went up to 120kmh,,20kmh over the speed limit,,,Um,,,Lord,,,are you telling me to break the law, No answer to that question. I came to a small town called Himitangi where the main state highway 1 meets for the rest of the way to Wellington, still no rain, and just about 10km south of a town called Foxton He said to me again, Now go for it, i opened up to 130 and he told me to slow to 120,All of a sudden the road turned bone dry and it was usually about that stage of the journey was a little windy and at night tends to get a little tricky, I just passed through Levin without stopping and stopped to refuel in a town called Otaki and take a coffee break.
When i went into the shop to pay for my fell and my coffee the first thing that met my eye was the clock on the wall which was reading right on midnight.
I almost fell backwards as not only had i re gained back that lost hour but had also gained an extra 30 minutes on my time and that i had actually did better that i do in the day light on a dry day.
I said to the Lord, WOW Lord, this is incredible, i have gained back the lost time. It was like He turned and smiled at me.
The last 80km was just a dry/wet surface and i was in Wellington 1:00am so i still had un till 3:00am to meet the ferry to cross the cook straight.
God knows what is best for all of us, both rich or poor, good or bad, He gives good things to them that love and hon our Him and bring glory to His name.
Instead of me praying,,God stop the rain and make the sun come out again, I thought about what i wanted to pray and put aside my need and considered those who were in need and prayed accordingly and asked for God ,don't stop the rain Lord, just keep me safe as i ride in it, So what He did, was He took over the situation and timed my stops between rain shower intervals because He knew what the weather was doing on the other side of the country and caused my timing to coincide with the long dry spells further down the line.
I believe it is often how we pray that determines how God answers our prayers, How we break through to God often comes down to how we pray to God.
It is Gods desire to answer all our prayers and so wants to pore our His blessing upon us and give us all the things we so desire, but when there is a need for rain in a dr out stricken area and one half of the population is asking for rain and the other half are praying for sunshine. I believe that needs a degree of thought before we pray for the weather. JUST MY THOUGHTS.

Thanks for sharing your story, and how the intent of the heart is so crucial in prayer. How we should think of how others are affected if our prayer is answered. When I pray about tornadoes here, and asked for one to turn a different way, I have felt bad, like...why am I praying to not have it come here? Then I prayed for them to not hurt ANYone. That is almost impossible here, as we have lots of them, but I have had the prayer answered many times now, and no one being killed. Thanks for the reminder. Blessings
