IS IT JUST ME ??????? - Is it just me???? .... . . . As you watch the flooding in the Midwest , have you noticed that there are no farmers running around with stolen plasma TVs or holding stolen liquor over their heads. There's no looting or yelling 'Where's Bush?', 'Where's FEMA?, Where's my check?', or 'Why isn't the Gov't out here saving me and my farm?' Likewise, I've also noticed there are no reports of any other country coming to help or sending aid. And where are Reverends Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton??? Shocking contrast isn't it???!!!! |

This is a racist point not a Christian viewpoint. When inner city is concentrated ethnicity all struggling to survive, you cannot possibly compare the insured white farmer with these people. People who have nothing and still lose more are in desperate times. When New Orleans flooded I worked across the street from the Salvation Army. Almost four hundred homeless were brought there, hundreds of miles away from home...many indigent to begin with, yet all in dire need. They looked lost, dazed and in shock. No media hype, no cameras pointing to get the best slant on the story, just the real people left with nothing and not knowing where their family members were. Change will not come with the government. You can not legislate care, giving, loving, compassion and respect for life. Laws won't make people behave, it will only make those go undercover. Opportunists are all colors, not just Jackson and Sharpton. I seem to remember Bush flying in after the shock and awe raid proclaiming victory to many many cameras. Our troups are still there, still dying and the moment in the fake sun is gone. People will help the farmers and are helping the farmers. It just isn't a great media story. If you base your opinions on newspapers and television you will miss the truth in just about everything they report on. You are entitled to your opinions, but for the sake of loving others in Christ, I seriously hope it is "just you". The world is a messed up place. That's why there is a Savior. Peace.

I am trying to not sound critical while I disagree with you. I don't agree that the backbone of the USA is country folk. You don't have to be from the country to roll up your sleeves and help one another. Anyone who opens a soup kitchen, a women's shelter, men's shelter, Salvation Army, anyone who donates organs, blood, money, time, anyone who helps rebuild after disaster, dig out to find bodies, anyone who does something to help is the backbone of this country. Firemen, EMTs, Doctors, Nurses, cooks, laborers, anyone with the heart to help. It's not "country folk". I am glad you got your son back alive. Anyone who is a citizen of this country is a full blooded American whether you like their skin color, accent or choice of religion. I personally am not political. There is nowhere in the Bible that says "Thou shalt be Republican". Separation of church and state is absolutely necessary and expecting government to act in a Christian manner simply is not realistic. Look who sits on Senate and Congress, how they vote, how much money they waste. They aren't there in the name of the Lord to speak for the Christian community. The Christian community speaks for itself REGARDLESS of what government does. Those who confuse "One nation under God" with Christianity will be misled and misinformed. The Christian reaches out to need worldwide because the need is there. People don't see race, nationality, gender or religion when humans are in need of help. I adopted a child that is not my race who needed a family. Politics and whether people agree that interracial adoption was no factor in my decision. Human beings cannot wait while we categorize them into groups, label them and then discuss who should do what for them while we do nothing ourselves. God blessed me with a wonderful child who is the light of my life. If you don't think I have heard the racist opinions from strangers, from Republicans, from those who call themselves Christians, from the black community, think again.... Everyone has an idea about what someone should or should not do and it is in the comfort of their own home while they do nothing. There are tens of thousands of parentless children in this country and people are arguing about who should or should not provide families for these kids.. while they wait. It is hard for me to talk to someone like you because I am color blind while you are not yet. Perhaps someday you will be. I only realize my son is black when people I don't know remind me because of their biases and stereotypes. Maybe getting out of Montana and looking at the rest of the real world out here would enlighten you. Until then, God bless you.
