FAITH SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A WEDGE TO DIVIDE

Faith should not be used as a wedge to divide.

“We think of faith as a source of comfort and understanding but find our expressions of faith sowing division; we believe ourselves to be a tolerant people even as racial, religious, and cultural tensions roil the landscape. And instead of resolving these tensions or mediating these conflicts, our politics fans them, exploits them, and drives us further apart.” ‒ The Audacity of Hope.

“Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America ‒ there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America ‒ there's the United States of America. The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.” ‒ Obama’s DNC Keynote Address.

I am disturbed at the number of Christians who choose to not vote and/Or pay taxes reasoning that we're really citizens of Heaven.
Whilst true - we are also in this world. Our job is to be adding salt and light to earthly concerns.
our duty is to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and give to God what is His.
exercising our democratic right and responsibility is divinely ordained. Were we living with a dictatorship I suggest our Christian moral code ought to ask for the power of voting.
Christians are not to cause unrest unnecessarily; however, where human law is at odds with God's commandment we are then to explain and defend our position - if at all possible peacefully.
Jesus only showed righteous anger when other forms of demonstration talk and other ways failed to impact positively.
Even as He died Jesus asked God to forgive all the perpetrators.
How much more does it behove His followers to do the same?!
my call is for all citizens - especially including those of us who hold dual citizenship with Jesus - to prayerfully cast votes as each opportunity arises
God ordains all earthly government; any type of overseeing is preferable to anarchy- BUT I personally choose to have an open lifestyle of freedom to decide all my affairs (with all the inherent flaws) than being told what to and not to, do ... How about you?
remember even our freedom to choose to be a heavenly citizen comes at a price
(Just ask Jesus our Saviour!)
