Finally became a member

Well I finally subscribed to the site. I was a bit hesitant, but something just told me to go for it. I have not really gotten any responses except for some odd ones from people in other countries. Two of the people who responded to my profile were removed for abuse! Luckily I hadn't replied to either of them because I wasn't a subscribing member yet.
I am going to be SO busy with my senior year in college, that I do not think I have the time I would like to devote to the local singles groups here. I just have no idea why I am not getting any responses to my profile. Does anyone want to give me advice on what I could do differently? The last time I tried the site a few years ago, I didn't get any responses then either and unsubscribed after a month. I have filmed a video greeting, I have finished my profile information. I know I am a really great person with a lot to offer, I just don't think I am expressing if very well on my profile. I have tried to include average pictures of myself because I am very honest and want to represent myself accurately.
So, any advice would be greatly appreciated. What has worked for you?

 I've had a similar experience. I think it helped to view many other people's profiles, so they could see me if they checked who viewed them. Beyond that, I'm not sure.
